HID Headlights

I'm not a fan of the factory yellowish-white color of the headlights. I've heard of issues though when changing the bulbs to a higher Kelvin such as 8k or 10k,

I've heard of issues though when changing the bulbs to a higher Kelvin such as 8k or 10k, is that true? Does the ballast have to be changed as well?
