Shaved door handles

What do you all think if a 370z had shaved handles? I know a lot of ppl complain about it sticking out color wise from the rest of the car, so you think it would look sleek and nice without and handles at all?

I try to imagine what it would look like, and in my head it looks nice, but because I have no real photoshop skills I really don't know for sure.

If anyone could photoshop a 370z (gunmetal) without any handles and black rims that would be awesome!!!

fuct 10-09-2009 08:37 AM

even though it was cool on mini trucks and ghetto low riders i always liked the clean look shaved door handles creates. if the mechanism for opening the door can be a bit more technical than the rusty ol' spring that 'pops' the door open i would be very interested in this!

theDreamer 10-09-2009 09:07 AM

I think it could look good, but I am going to do a color match on my handles, with PG I am hoping for good results.

phelan 10-09-2009 05:58 PM

Color matching = yes
Shaved....eh, yes, it'd look nice, but nightmare to get to work nicely.

Someone PChopped GT-R handles, those would be hilariously cool. For all of...15 minutes..

Danny3.7 10-09-2009 10:17 PM

Do it!

thanks to a photoshop done by Kones, you kinda get the idea... imo it looks SiCK!

FuszNissan 10-10-2009 06:41 AM

Looks amazing!

370Zsteve 10-10-2009 06:51 AM

I'm in the minority I guess...I LIKE the door handles. But only on cars that have silver rims. Black rims and the silver handles just don't work....................................

FuszNissan 10-10-2009 06:53 AM

Yep, no if you could powder coat the door handles black to match the wheels, that might look good too

Can you take a pic from further back so we can see the overall effect? From the pic it loks like a nice paint job...what paint did you use, did you prime first etc etc :tiphat:

nogoodname 10-10-2009 09:27 AM

what would be awesome is painted handles and a jdm left door handle............keyhole delete

body shop painted them for me, so its top notch paint, but I can't remember what brand they use.

Door handles and tail lights cost me about 350, including removal and reinstallation, but I get a lot of stuff done at this shop, and refer everyone I can to them.

^ Is that you standing next to you, or someone wearing like you standing next to you :rofl2:

Nice paint job

I was thinking of getting Bronze wheels. but the white car, silver door handles, and Bronze wont look nice.

slick or painted door handle will be nice.

It is the scariest Z I've ever seen. That's a compliment, btw. :tiphat:

FuszNissan 10-10-2009 10:17 AM

Looks great, but I think I like the shaved look better, now that I can see both.

vipor 10-10-2009 10:30 AM

Has anyone painted the handles of a PW yet? I might work on a PS chop in a bit.

vipor 10-10-2009 11:23 AM

kind of crappy, but here's a quick chop.

Not quite sure how I feel about color-matched handles, but many times when black or non-body-colored trim is painted body-color on various cars...it cheapens the look overall. For example, side-moulding on E36 M3s, the lower trim on GTRs, front-lip on Supras/RX-7s, etc. It makes the car look as if it just rolled out of Maaco.

Perhaps on black Zs painted door-handles look ok, but I'll wait to see more colors for final judgement.

Shaved this time, not painted.

Valentino 10-11-2009 10:27 AM

Beautiful...

Now, how can we open the door? If we can stick a button (like the hatch) somewhere ... hmm

Maybe under the side mirror ?

:icon18: right on

vipor 10-11-2009 10:50 AM

It's been done for many decades using an aftermarket alarm and trunk release actuators. I'm sure there's a cleaner way to do it now-a-days.

Use the keyfob to roll down the window and open it from the inside?

you hit the unlock button anyways so it shouldnt go off

Solus 10-12-2009 01:47 PM

if there were some clever way of actually opening the door reliably with shaved handles i would love to do it to mine.. i hate the mirrors and the handles on the z

sloterg 10-12-2009 05:46 PM

well ive known of door poppers..

that kinda pop the door out and then u just open it..

DJcuetip 10-12-2009 07:34 PM

yes they sell shaved door handle kit that has a popping mechanism with a certain amount of force.. usually i think 40lb force is a good enough pressure.

Equinox 10-12-2009 08:55 PM

yeah make the unlock button pop the door open an inch so you just grab the door edge. that or make a door handle out of the rear quarter glass like my mazda rx7 has its handle not on the door but in the black plastic upper area, stock.

bullitt5897 10-12-2009 10:59 PM

Shaved door kits will pop the door open up to 1 in. Who would be interested in seeing how much it would cost to do a GTR retro fit? I can ask artcraft to give me a quote if there is enough interest. If the price is right I will do it :D

Solus 10-13-2009 08:40 AM

exactly what do you mean by a gtr retro fit lol

theDreamer 10-13-2009 09:47 AM

The GT-R door handles are flush with the car, they handle pops out slightly to open it.

bullitt5897 10-13-2009 10:20 AM

^^^ Exactly mine would be color matched PW :D so for all intents and purposes it would looked shaved. but you retain the push button and handle that we have on our cars but completely flush with the car.

theDreamer 10-13-2009 10:24 AM

I would need to see a solid photo of how this will look, I am really looking into doing paint match my current handles (graphite).

Equinox 10-13-2009 10:24 AM

that would take some interesting body work.

shabarivas 10-13-2009 10:29 AM

come on - some one do a photoshop so we can guesstimate what it would look like :)

bullitt5897 10-13-2009 11:26 AM

ohhh fine I will do one lol

Ur pulling my freaking hair here guys LOL
