7AT aftermarket install

I've been reading the old threads from years past about installing the gtr, and other knobs to change out the stock one.

My stock one is starting to get really worn so I'm looking to change it out. I saw someone back in 2011-2012 had modded a titanium short shifter looking knob with the push down option, but I don't think those are available any longer.

Other than the installs I've read for the gtr knob, are there any other options available? I read something about the m45 working, but I really want the push down option.

Thanks for any insight and information you may have.

Figures I'd leave out the key word from the thread title.

/facepalm

I'm pretty sure someone did it... you'll have to search.

Yeah, I was able to find the old threads for group buys and stuff, but they're not available anymore. So I'm looking to see if anyone has any information on something that's currently available.

This is the thread with most of all that you'll need. The gtr one and m45 one are in this thread I believe.

I assume this is one you found referencing the group buy thread that was shut down: http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...installed.html

This is interesting, but I realize it may not be what you're looking for: http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...automatic.html

I don't understand why it's not a more common mod on the 7AT. GL with your search :tiphat:

Yeah, I saw those. The install seems simple enough. If I can't find one that offers the push down option, I'll settle for a m45 one I guess :-/

I think Chris did the one with the push down option. His name on here is something like xxChrisxx something or another.

I considered the pushdown option but ended up being one of the people to swap for an m45 knob.

The main benefit being is that it is already Nissan OEM. Took me 5 minutes to install, and it was a nice upgrade going from a plastic shift knob to leather.

I really liked the GTR option but was concerned about still having to mod something I paid hundreds of dollars for which could result in a costly mistake. ha ha

That's very true! I actually found someone who makes them with the push option. :)

how is yours starting to get worn?

LadyZ 09-02-2014 10:34 PM

The top has rubbed off. I usually have my hand on it, so it's gotten rubbed off a lot.

Out of context, that would sound so dirty. Rofl

drive with two hands on the wheel. quit rubbing your stick

LadyZ 09-03-2014 03:15 AM

I only drive with both hands in if I'm doing some serious driving. I'm usually cruising around so I keep my hand on it. I also use it to shift when in manual mode. Never really been a fan of the paddles.
