My suggestion if you want it flushed nicely is to make a mold of the left and right opening with about 1/8 of an inch trimmed off all around and

My suggestion if you want it flushed nicely is to make a mold of the left and right opening with about 1/8 of an inch trimmed off all around and then use the mold to shape your metal mesh with enough room to set it flushed in the front and attached with enough tabs to be siliconed from the back side.
