Official GT wings/spoilers thread
**This thread is for GT wing only (Ings+1, APR, Kognition, shine.....)
Not many member choose GT wings to go with their daily drive, I just want to know why. At first i really want to go with Ings+1 Gt wings but the 2400$ price + 4 months waiting from Japan has prevented me. So i go with APR performance. Half the price, Arrived in 2 weeks. Honestly the look is AWESOME, in some way look more than agressive the INGS wing, but it stand so HIGH and CAUGHT TOO MUCH attention. I missed the Ings+1 again cause it look many way for daily driving, not too much agressive, and also it look smaller than the APR. I will take newer picture of my car when i finish the amuse kit. On daily i have to take the wing OFF. The wing have to live a Sneaky life on weekend (cause i dont want trouble with police, If i get caught, it will be violations for both modified exhaust and Wings :tiphat:) https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7150/...bc0f579c_c.jpgDSC_0755 by dkinghl, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7135/...39ab3dfb_c.jpgDSC_0753 by dkinghl, on Flickr https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3854/...219c8392_c.jpgDSC_1105 by dkinghl, on Flickr may 2015 UPDATE WELL now i just want to have something usual like amuse wing. But hole has been drilled, so i keep the pedestal on and remove the wing. Look like a bat |
I hope this thread takes off

With wings that size, why wouldn't it?

I like the look as well, but there is absolutely no benefit to putting a massive wing like that if the car never spends time on a track. I'll give a pass if the car is a show car. Those are usually kitted to the max. |
Voltex GT Type 3 with low mounts 1300mm wide. Not big and obnoxious, and flows well with the body lines of the Z

This thread should be on gallery thread. Why mod move it to here?
|
At the moment, that's why I love Florida. The cops don't seem to care about straight pipes, or crazy wings. Plus, no emissions testing.
|
So why is huge wing/spoiler illegal? Anyone knows Canadian Law about the?

The wing isn't a problem in Florida, I work right next to the sheriffs office and none of them have said anything about it. The GTC-300 doesn't block your view, the mirror looks under it so all you see are the uprights.

I know Brian runs the aeromotions wing on his PWC car. Tons of pics out there. That's probably my favorite ATM.

bump :)
|
Is that wing to make up for the lack of a back seat? :P
I kid! I think a functional wing would make sense if it is that large, I feel like sometimes it just attracts the wrong kind of attention. |
How do you guys balance the downforce front to back? Or these all show no go? One thing that's stopping me is no functional front diffuser. I think that's on my list first before a wing since they're less readily available.

I have been holding off on a splitter until we got the Stillen bumper on and the cooling worked out but it's the next project on the car. I plan on sending APR templet of the bumper and having them make me one out of carbon fiber. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Make your own. There are no functional splitters out there atm. Also, the splitter is the easy part. Figuring out the best way to mount and support t is the pain. Especially if you go with a large one like I did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I don't have a problem with balance without a front splitter. The stillen bumper does give a little extra downforce though, I think.
Had an APR GTC300 but it broke at Daytona. Now I run an Aeromotions. |

Nice wing |
They are bolted to a frame I made out of 3/4" aluminum square tube. I would use round tube if I could weld aluminum. Now that I know this setup works, I'll probably have a local fabricator weld one up for me out of round tube.
The whole thing weighs less than 3lbs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I'll contribute...APR GTC-300...couple different angles

I haven't tracked it yet, just highway and street driving. I'm pretty sure I can feel a good planted difference at speed and its not just in my mind lol. From the pic and their website, I think that it is solid inside and not hollow. As for standing on it....I can't bring myself to stand on it lol. I've seen the Aeromotions pic where its covered in 45lb weights and that is pretty impressive.

My Aeromotions:

I think the APR is hollow. If not, its definitely not reinforced like the aeromotions is.
|
If it is not hollow, it will be so heavy. It is how it was made, makes it strong. If the center blades are just hand over lay carbon fiber, it won't be strong enough. Its got to be vacuum made or dry carbon made.
