I bought and installed mine just a few months ago so I hope it is lol. I wish I knew about Aeromotions before though; at the time I only knew of APR, Kognition, and Ings.

It's way cheaper though.

Are those new black mounts welded to the hatch?

glued with the same panel bond they use to attach roofs to cars and also bolted. They are 3/16" steel plates and about 54 square inches each to spread the downforce out.

It was custom from APR directly. I can go take measurements for you if you need it. Because they are one of my sponsors they made me this wing knowing I was going big on power and wanted to get as much clean air as possible. The wing is 72" wide and I think the riser height is 8"-10". I run the wing at 0* AoA at the moment.

May I ask how much?

Now I can't decide since this might be an option haha.

Scott,

You will have to ask them directly. I am not allowed by contract to speak about my pricing. They are very customer friendly and have no problem making it for new customers.

Mike

Just got off the phone with them. Apparently they had no idea mikes cracked or the other. I said it's no big deal it was a long time ago but he seamed pretty worried.

Any who he quoted me $1830 for a GTC 500. Problem is they are out of 500's till mid June. :(

They must have a gtc 500 that has mounting points close like the 370z and they just include 370z mounts with that wing cause if you look at a GTR the mounts are very very wide.

Looks like Aeromotions it is since they quoted 3 day turn around.

.

That's funny, because I sent my cracked wing back to them to analyze and they sent me a new one (which I immediately sold).

Great packaging on the replacement one too! just a lightly wrapped wing in a big box with no stuffing or filler. :icon14:

After seeing you post this before I've been concerned about mine but I feel better knowing they replaced it.

Yikes.

Well I called back and got a hold of Tony this time. Nice guy and we talked a lot. Basically we ended up that he does know you Mike and another gtc300 that snapped on a vette. He did swear things have changed as yours was older and it might have been just a fluke. He also told me wings are maintanence items just like seats and belts and helmets. After 4-5 years or what they go through, they should be replaced for weakening with the sun and downforce over time.

So we talked this time about the GT-250 as a 2D might be better for me since I don't make the power for the gtc 300 or 500. I agree I don't want to die in the straights. The GT-250 is supposed to be awesome and Martin agrees as he told me a while ago to just buy that even over his Aeromotions he was gonna sell me. It has a Gurney flap and I went with the 71". It'll have 11" raisers so base plus wing should be an inch above the roof line. Guess I'll be the first 370z with it

Not even a year, if I get 4-5 years I will be good with that. Probably 10-12 track days on it.

Should be fine. Sell to a street guy one day and get another. Also make sure it never gets hit or sat on etc. the vette I was talking about i guess had a little hit coming out of a trailer. Might have been enough to mess it up...or shipped like Mikes haha

JWillis72 05-12-2015 07:06 PM

If it was hit you really can't blame the manufacturer. In Mikes case while no excuse he was at Daytona (if I remember correctly) probably the biggest G force/ downforce track in the country. I spend most of my track time at Sebring and Homesteads road course, no where close to those Gs or downforce.

and mine definitely didn't have age/sun weakening. The car is kept in a garage except for the 1 weekend per month it sees the track. I think it was about a year and a half old at the time it failed.

JWillis72 05-12-2015 08:26 PM

I agree that sucks, was I right it was at Daytona?

Mike 05-12-2015 09:14 PM

yes, daytona. The aeromotions did fine there this year :P

synolimit 05-13-2015 07:03 AM

It'll be interesting how solid the GT-250 will be. I don't think I'm gonna put 950lbs on it like Aeromotions but I hope it's strong.

bullitt5897 05-13-2015 08:32 AM

Yeah Daytona is notorious for being hard on wings... It may have just been a weak one in the batch. I haven't seen another one fail yet so I am comfortable with continuing to run their products.

Custom all carbon Varis Euro Edition wing. Contrary to popular belief and from all the pictures floating around on the internet, the GT wing is not mounted to the Zele trunk spoiler. In fact, it's not even touching the Zele spoiler. It's mounted directly onto the hatch and is designed to look like they're mounted together. :D

Also features a fully sealed flat bottom from front splitter to rear diffuser. The entire bottom of the car is completely flat using chassis mounted panels. These panels are so strong that we had guys doing pull ups on every panel while the car was on the lift. Also custom canards and fender liner panels were made too. The two support rods in the front are connected to a bracket that's directly connected to the chassis.

Can anyone explain the characteristic differences vs straight blade type wings (Aeromotions) and multi-angle wings like the APRs?

Basically the amount of downforce vs drag. Tony from APR sold me the GT-250 due to the fact of how much horsepower my car makes. I don't have enough being under 400Hp to use a 300 or 500 without dying on the straights.

No pictures, but here's a video from CRZY Engineering (@crzyeng on Instagram, they made the flat bottom).

There are more pictures of the build on my Instagram @omgwtfbbqimderek :D (warning: my Instagram has a LOT of food pictures...)

JWillis72 05-14-2015 07:11 PM

That's cool, we have talked about trying to do that to my car.

Good! You guys are good to go. Glad mike didn't have this happen!!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_LnmD7kxHUw

Mike 05-17-2015 05:07 PM

yeah, me too. The end plates of mine were flapping enough to come down the 8 inches to the rear fenders and dent both sides, but had one or both sides separated on the banking, it could have been much much worse!

carlitos_370z 05-18-2015 07:23 AM

Subscribed... love that Bulletproof Zele Z

Hope to get a GT Wing for my Z someday

Crux 05-18-2015 09:03 AM

So they added reinforcements to the new style? My Apr gtc-300 flaps up and down about an inch of travel at 90+ mph, and it makes me quite nervous.

synolimit 05-18-2015 09:13 AM

Yikes

Crux 05-18-2015 11:25 AM

What was changed on the new style? I'm not seeing any information about it on APR's website.

synolimit 05-18-2015 11:53 AM

Tony said the new mounts and more internal structure like ribs of an airplane wing.
