Soundproofing

Anyone paid to have your Z sound proofed? I had a quote from Car Toys in Dallas Ft. Worth for $1,000 I'm not a mechanic afraid of doing myself. Steve

my pass 350Z roadster had the underside sound proofing done and what a difference . At least another 70% reduction in no noise . It only cost $300. good luck.....

Are you talking about sound deadening? Do it yourself. Get a box of the deadener, a big sheet of closed cell foam and just go do it. It's not fun, but it's not worth paying someone else to do it.

I don't know about soundproofing, but for sound deadening, dynamat is a good product.

Summit has their brand of Dynomat, peel & stick, can't be easier. The wheel wells & spare tire area would probably be a good place to start.

I've thought about getting a new car because too loud/road noise then I just slapped on noise cancelling headphones = no more annoying sounds

You can either get active noise cancelling headphones or just plain headphones with good isolation. The Sony MDR-10RNC are really good for active noise cancellation, I have a pair and highly recommend them. You can't hear anything driving related while you're driving

Wearing headphones while driving is absolutely retarded and illegal in most states. Even if it's legal, it's still ******* retarded. You need to be able to hear what's going on around you.

why would you wear headphones? aside from being really dangerous you missing out on the sweet sounds of horsepower rumbling through your exhaust.
I use the bluetooth truckers headset which features noise cancellation. I sell & I'm on the phone a lot. works great

I did the hatch area (the towers and back) of my Z and it made a big difference. Got the sound-damping material free from GTMat and my favorite body shop charged me ~$50 to R&R the interior panels.
