If you want bright, go with led panels rather than the bulbs. The bulbs might have just as many LEDs, but most are projecting laterally rather than downward and it is too indirect to do much good. With panels, all the light goes downward.
There is a thread on how to crack open the housing and install the panels somewhere here. You can also find replacement light license plate light assemblies that already have the panels in them; I think around $30 versus $5 or so for panels. ![]() ^Something like this works. It will be quite bright depending on what choose (number of LEDs). |
