Bought my strap wrench today, going to try to install it tonight. Hopefully I'm stronger than kenchan.

i frikken broke 2 strap wrenches before i gave up and used my oil filter wrench to remove that dogdamn stock knob.

Kick that Stock Knob's ***! I finally resorted to giant vise grips, mangled the knob but that b*tch is off there.

Took me about 20 minutes to get it off with a $9 Husky strap wrench from Home Depot. I tried the micro fiber towel over the old knob but the leather on the side peeled off anyway. Eventually I just took the towel off and it took awhile but it spun off with a little bit of effort.

I have given great caution to avoid damaging the original....

Wrap the shaft under the boot with a piece of leather and use some vice grips there. I had my wife hold the vice grips while I used the strap wrench on the OEM knob and was lucky enough to have it break free fairly easy. My OEM knob doesn't have a mark on it.
