I was going to do something like that with the frame, but we figured a couple plates attached to the rear lid would spread the force out evenly enough. They are about 60 square inches each, so 120 total. even with 1200 pounds of force, it would only be 10 pounds per square inch.
btw, when I had the APR Wing that broke, using just its small mounting plates, it also cracked the skin of the rear hatch, another reason we did the plates. ![]() its hard to see in this pic because the car is black, but the cracks are at the back end of these bases, going in towards the middle of the car about 3/4"
