Do not want.

My first NSX had an aftermarket sunroof installed by the original owner and I missed it even though it was rarely opened - I like the glass overhead and missed it from my MR-2's glass T-tops which I tinted and never covered.

Unfortunately the motor failed in the one in the NSX. I don't think I'm brave enough to put it in the Z, but looks great.

Joka4411 06-13-2011 11:42 AM

No way would I ever do that to my Z. Takes value way down!!!!!! Also makes the car look old.

cheshirecat 06-13-2011 11:57 AM

Love it.

Dark Sarcasm 06-13-2011 06:07 PM

happytheman 06-13-2011 07:53 PM

 Very Nice....

370zproject 02-23-2012 10:29 PM

hows it holding up?

LakeShow 02-24-2012 12:44 AM

Z should've been T-top or just removable hard top.

MattP725 02-24-2012 01:04 AM

These worry me... I had a car that had a stock sunroof that didn't retract into the liner (it slid on top like this one does) and from a few years of driving at high speeds with it open, the guides start failing from all the downwards pressure. That being said, the integration with the buttons looks factory, I just wish they sunk the glass into the headliner, assuming that would have been possible.

Mandingo 02-24-2012 04:39 PM

Whoa! Can't believe I never saw this thread before.

I'm very glad the 370z does not come with a sunroof. But thats just me.

sammy 02-24-2012 04:58 PM

Your car looks amazing man!! The fact that it will be a very rare puts it over the top!!

Congrats!!

PS--I have seen a 911 turbo with a sun roof and it also looks amazing.

LakeShow 02-24-2012 05:52 PM

I've seen that one Z with a removable hard top from Z1 Motorsport and it looked pretty sick. It looks like a factory option lol.

370Ztune 02-24-2012 05:54 PM

The installation is pretty clean, but the roof looks creased into a rectangular shape around the sunroof...

Scorpio0124 02-29-2012 03:52 PM

That looks Hot !!!! Its a Great look !!!.

Do you have a close up pic with the top back on ? Can you tell it is removable? How comforatble is the top in trunk ?

base64 03-06-2012 02:02 AM

Looks decent - that would have been awesome though to get it in a T-shape style like the t-tops on the Z32 :)

370ZilverZ 04-18-2012 06:40 PM

Southside Trim & Glass is the DFW installer for these. Since the lack of this option almost made me not buy the Z, I will add it to my Z now. And I'm sure the dealer option would of been twice the price too.

SuperZeto 04-19-2012 07:45 PM

Nice! Id love that sunroof when the summer hits!

I got mine installed yesterday and picked up today. Check out my journal for more pics. This is a great mod and looks factory installed too.

I have such mixed feelings about this. I woud love to eventually have a sunroof on my Z.. but wouldn't want to damage the value. But then, not treating the car as an investment, anyway.. so I dunno. The cars in this thread sure look well done, though.

i feel you man, but hey think abt it this way. once u drive off the dealer u r alrdy losing value. adding a sunroof dont hurt tt much anymore. Plus its wad you like n feel when driving. Im gonna get the sunroof too. Good'o sunny california.. :D

Had a Webasto 321L sunroof installed yesterday at Auto FX in Tacoma, WA and have attached some photos. Please no posts about whether a sunroof belongs in the 370Z - it is a matter of personal preference and really doesn't have an answer. However, if Porsche offers sunroof options on their $100,000 Carrera I think it is fine for the 370Z.

To answer some anticipated questions.
1) I watched them remove the section of roof and their are no structural components in the section they take out. There is a small aluminum roof stiffener that is no longer needed with the sunroof.

2) You are adding about a total of 20-25 lbs when the job is completed. It will be less if you go with the medium 321. Frankly, I was surprised that the larger sunroof fit but I think it looks great.

3) Webasto manufactures 50% of the worlds factory sunroofs so they seem to know what they are doing.

4) With the sunroof closed, the car is just as quiet as it was before. In fact,
when the shade is pulled you just forget that it is there. Have experineced no rattles at all.

5) Controls are great. You can preset two positions (and has other buttons to open it as little as you want) - I have them set for vent and full open and when you turn off the ignition the roof automatically closes.

6) The rollo shade works fine and is the same color as the interior.

where can i get this done ???

robones 09-26-2012 08:08 AM

The Z's roof has the inner grove and i think it does not mix well with the straight lines the sun roof will give you. The pictures posted average about 10-15 feet away and of course look good but I am sure with a closer inspection it will not look good.

I am sure the dip on the roof mix with the flatness of the sunroof, it will lead to some leaks over time. It cannot be just flat against the roof.

But Rep for having the balls to do it! :) All of my previous cars had sunroofs and boy do I miss it!

Amazing... I'd love to put this on my car.

robones 09-26-2012 09:51 AM

Yup! for me this would be the best option! I am sure this must be between 4-5k though.

red6spd 09-26-2012 09:54 AM

Thats so sick.

Webasto has approved installers all over the place. Go to their website and check out the list, then give the installers a call for more info about installing it on your particular model.

eastwest2300 12-06-2012 01:52 PM

Dude, the sunroof or the drop top is sooooooo hott, holy sh1t!
