Ground location for boost controller and gauges?

Where are you guys hooking up your ground wires?

Has anyone tried running a ground wire straight from the battery? Or is this over kill?

U can wire on transmission tunnel there are some bolts if u lift up the shifter, I also used a bolt right by the fuse box also by ur feet.

Just about any metal structural member will be a good ground. Running a wire to the battery is not what I would call overkill but there are usually closer, easier points to use.

If the black wire under the bolt near the center of the picture is factory wiring, that should be a good round. If it goes to something that you installed and the device works, it's probably a good ground. Either way, I'd give it a try. Measure resistance from the bolt to the negative post on the battery (or a known good ground). If very close to zero, you should be good to go.

Grounding to just about any solid metal surface in the car will be fine. its easy to find ground, harder to find 12V

Yes you're good to do that. see where the factory does it in the rear hatch

As per Cbtech, you should be OK putting multiple ground wires under the same bolt. It can present problems if high-current loads are involved but, as long as you have good electrical connection, you can run a lot of gauges off the same ground point.

I like to put a little bulb grease or similar on all the connectors, bottom of bolt head, and the car ground point to ward off corrosion but not a big deal in the cabin.

The biggest problem with multi grounds is if something needs to be hot all the time (log data, presets, &c) and you need to unwire another device that use the same ground point. You usually end up killing the power to everything on that point (especially if you use ring lugs).
