So I got my headlights back today and this is what I received :(

Hey guys,
I sent out my headlights to get the housings painted "black chrome" and this is what I got back today... I wont name the guy that did these, but I want people to honestly comment if the lights are acceptable? The guy is saying I'm too picky.:shakes head:

Who says these look fine and would accept them as ok?

^unacceptable! I would be furious. I hope it wasn't one of the Cali boys that did this since I plan on getting my lights done by either one of those guys.

Yeah, it was a guy in CA but I'm not going to say who... I dont like to bash companies on forums but if their work is poor I want to get other peoples opinion and I can send him this link.

No, not matte black at all. He simply painted a translucent paint over top of the chrome without any sanding. That's why the "shinyness" still comes through from the original chrome. Just a poor paint application.

I'm sorry, it looks like sh!t and I'd be furious as fuk if those were my lights.

Whomever did this should be ashamed they returned your lights in this condition. I hope you didn't pay more than $100 for such craptastic work man. Demand a re-do or full refund asap bro.

AND PLEASE say who it is so the rest of us can avoid this guy (I'm in SOCAL).

m4a1mustang 08-16-2013 12:18 PM

Those look terrible. TERRIBLE.

Thanks man... I hope so too

Trips 08-16-2013 12:26 PM

Honestly I'm not a pro at painting, But that does look bad.

And to tell you you're being picky.

Did shop/person see the pics of how they came?

I would definitely have them redone.

Looks like they did it a dark room and never brought them out in the light to notice the paint was not even?

Hopefully it just a simple mistake, And gets resolved. :ugh2:

Zbrah 08-16-2013 12:29 PM

And just for reference, my previous lights were painted black chrome on the housing, it's a couple shades lighter than your "black chrome", but absolutely no over sprayed or paint runs when done by a PROFESSIONAL who stands behind his work.

Wow.... how can they tell you your being picky. That looks like **** and unacceptable

Akbubba47 08-16-2013 12:36 PM

send them to 180customs and apologize to your car for trusting it with anyone else

Trips 08-16-2013 12:37 PM

All I can add is to Lets calm down, And put away the pitchforks for NOW

They have to be given a chance to redeem themselves.

Yeah. Well I just opted for a refund. I refused to sent them back to him. After being insulted on the phone, customer service was not his strongest point. I already contacted 180customs to get them re-done. Its just a huge hassle for me now because my car will be down for even more time now... plus I lost out on some shipping charges too. It's just so disappointing when people don't take pride in their work and expect customers to recieve it whether its right or wrong. I dont get it :shakes head:

Nice, who did those for you?

You're right....they should have been embarassed for those to leave his shop

FairladyZ10PG 08-16-2013 12:53 PM

It's never a good idea to insult your customers
Especially here since the word gets around very quick
He already lost my business.

Apoc370z 08-16-2013 12:55 PM

I am very curious to see who did those lights for you

Zbrah 08-16-2013 12:56 PM

Can you pm me who it was?

I'd like to know for my own reference. Really appreciate it man.

370Z JT 08-16-2013 12:56 PM

I'm on my iPhone and it looks fine to me.

You must not have zoom function lol
When I saw it on my phone it was actually more visible than my computer screen

JARblue 08-16-2013 01:16 PM

That is unacceptable. I'm glad you have cut off your relationship with that shop - they don't deserve to be in the presence of your 370Z much less work on it. Hope you get everything fixed asap.

My side markers looked like that the first time I tried to paint them with the DupliColor Shadow spray paint (actually mine probably didn't even look as bad as that). I repainted them the next day, and they came out a thousand times better.

damian_mb 08-16-2013 01:17 PM

Wow, that's horrid! For a shop or person to tell you your picky is a dumb move on their part. Remember you are the customer and these are YOUR headlights so you have the right to be as picky as needed and wanted to be!

Hope you can get it fixed. I would ask for a refund and send to a real shop.

Get a Samsung GALAXY S4.

Crap Job! But you already know this. Looks like they were running out of paint. The head was clogged or something. To tell you that you’re being picky is unacceptable. Buy the looks of your avatar your Z is on shine so this to that just adds to an eye sore.

FairladyZ10PG 08-16-2013 01:30 PM

I'm actually curious to hear what the pros have to say about this.

kenchan 08-16-2013 01:30 PM

was the guy using a rattle can up side down? lol

I know! Seriously

scottIN 08-16-2013 03:02 PM

That's one of those deals where I look at it and think: "I paid someone to do this? I could have f'ed it up that bad myself!"

FairladyZ10PG 08-16-2013 03:40 PM

:icon18: couldn't have said it better

zilverbullet 08-16-2013 04:00 PM

OP mind PMing me? I am in CA and would like to know so I avoid also. THX and best wishes in you getting them redone.

VDC_OFF 08-16-2013 04:05 PM

yikes, that is no good. I havent tried black chrome but I imagine its not as easy since it goes on top of the chrome transparently. But if I came out like that I would not have sent it to the customer.

Zteve 08-16-2013 04:10 PM

wow, that is some bad work. my 350Z had lights done by Cincity (those who remember them know of their track record) in the early days and those looked 100% better than that. guess the means my lights will go to the east coast to get done when i decide to get it done

tjlazer 08-16-2013 04:30 PM

I hate it when people make me out to be some anal OCD nut when they do sh!tty a$$ work! Really hate that!

Agreed. There's just no excuses for shoddy workmanship. These lights should have never been returned to the owner like that. Either fix it or reimburse the man a FULL refund, including any shipping fee he's out, anything less is completely dog sh!t.

I don't care if this guy is well known on the forum(s), he's just lost any potential business from me, and I will make sure to pass the words along to anyone I know to take their business elsewhere.

FairladyZ10PG 08-16-2013 04:47 PM

^This

RedZed34 08-16-2013 05:05 PM

Exactly! Thanks for all the comments guys. Really appreciate the support on the forums!

Scone 08-16-2013 05:55 PM

Yea. Nowhere near acceptable. I'm sorry to see this.
