OK. First things first ! You need right tools and I recommend to use 3M vinyl because 3M seems to have strong Adhesive and its pressure active so its easier to work with. Make sure you do it Dry.

Tools

uploadfromtaptalk1368984403459.jpg

There are few ways to finish your edges.

One is to use knifeless tape. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8r8R...e_gdata_player

Watch the video.

Second is to hand cut the edges with knife. This one is very tricky . you need to make sure Blade is not scooping the paint instead of cutting only vinyl!

uploadfromtaptalk1368984600361.jpg

Use nothing but olfa carbon blade. And make sure All edges are folded in and stays nice and smooth before cutting.

I will post the more process after I'm done with the BMW.

Prep work is everything
3M general adhesive cleaner.
Safe for auto paint also Wipe everything .

Clay bar is must. If there is Anything on the paint. And I meant Anything , it pops out when it gets under vinyl.
Make sure clean your edges of car over and over .

Tools

Power Slam Magnets Q=12

Knife Tape Reel with 50' of 1/8" knifeless Finish Line Tape Q=1

Olfa stainless Art Knife Q=1

GeekWraps® Soft Edge Micro Detail Squeegee Q=1
China Marker Q=1

4 inch Soft Edge Super Squeegee
4 inch Soft Edge Marine Squeegee
6 inch Soft Edge Super Squeegee
6 inch Soft Edge Marine Squeegee
1.25 inch Detail Squeegee
1.25 inch Marine Detail Squeegee
Competitive Edge Squeegee
From geek wrap .

Heat gun

Try not to over heat the vinyl. Minimum heat and Minimum stretch would be best way to go. But it will take time to figure all that out.
uploadfromtaptalk1369021505871.jpg
You would never imagine how dirty your car is Until you clean it. doing Paint protection install requires a lot of cleaning and Its never good enough .
uploadfromtaptalk1369021666890.jpg
Cutting vinyl by door trims are very risky to touch the paint. Try to cut the vinyl on the trim. I can cut the vinyl on the paint with out touching the paint. That takes years of training. Over wrapped and tuck in is your best bet. Make sure use fresh blade every time

What size of wrap do we need for the hood? What are the dimensions? what about the roof? 48"x 60" roll do the job? 60" x 72"? I'm willing to give this a try with carbon fiber vinyl.

Someone chime me in!!!

60 will cover Most of cars out there. Including Z. I wrapped my Z with 5ft by 25 ft with out hood ,hatch and Roof. 5ft by 40 should cover full car. Buy the cast vinyl! Avery Supreme is super easy to install but glue isn't strong like 3m does. You can use 3M primer 94 with Avery should be good way to go. 3M vinyl requests more experience to install. That's just me ..

So the 60"x 72" is good for the hood? What do you mean by 3m primer 94? I thought all you had to do was peel and attach. Maybe a little bit of heating and swiping over to clear bubbles.....what's this about avery supreme? Is it a weaker material? Heat resistant? Rain?

Look good mate i'm about to start wrapping my roadster with Arlon Metallic gloss white! Like you I've been wrapping for about 4 years now (signwriting for 14+ as a sideline). Its great fun I think and nice to see the end product!! As a guide you would need around 14metres of vinyl for a Z! I'll dig some pics out of a Range Rover Sport I wrapped matt white recently, as you know pics don't do the colour justice!

I'm thinking about re wrapping my Z with 3M satin White. Avery supreme Matte white vinyl gets lift up at edges. I'm too lazy to Use primer 94. Lol. And yes. it is so much fun . I live at my work now. Bmw should be done in few days Since I'm the only one who's working on it. Then Re wrap my Z. Thinking satin white but Not sure yet. Lol

Avery is good product. I can wrap a side mirror in a min. With it. Only thing is Glue. Where its been stretched , adhesive breaks down. Primer 93 made by 3M help vinyl to stay still. Think of it as crazy glue but Safe for paint and vinyl.
