Carwash Time!

The more you wash the car the more you risk swirl marks. I only wash when necessary.

+1, I noticed some road-patina on my back bumper on my Z, and thought, maybe I should wash it.

Then I think, nah, it's OK for now.

Maybe in a week or two...or three...or four.

Heck, let the patina build up and maybe it'll help prevent chips

If you are getting swirl marks its because you are putting pressure on the sponges and dry towels. The secret of avoiding swirls is to never press the sponge or towels...just use their own weight to glide over the surface.

The only time pressure is required is when you encounter something that just won't come off. In those cases it is better to put the soap directly on your index and middle finger and apply direct pressure that way. Your flesh won't leave any swirls.
