Splash Guards or No Splash Guards

I am beginning to hate them.

WShade 07-19-2009 07:49 PM

Why do you hate them?

theDreamer 07-19-2009 07:50 PM

I have them and like them, one of the only feature I required besides the sport package.

Pushing_Tin 07-19-2009 07:50 PM

They are certainly functional, but I do not care for the way they look.

frost 07-19-2009 07:52 PM

similar poll already done:

JB1 07-19-2009 07:58 PM

I have them, but don't like how they look, messes up the clean lines of the car. I didn't order them but they came with the car. I nevertheless decided to leave them on as they are practical

GMZ 07-19-2009 07:59 PM

Have em and love em

Educ8r 07-19-2009 08:09 PM

Easy fix, take them off and throw them in the trash.

My car came with them. The adhesive tape came undone. The dealer ordered a new set. Put them on and they look terrible. There are gaps so they are not laying flush against the body.

azn370z 07-19-2009 08:23 PM

My 350z came with splash guards and the first thing I did was take them off. I think the front splash guards look ugly. I live in Seattle and see no need for splash guards. I honestly don't think the front guards are big enough to be functional.

Florida_GATOR 07-22-2009 01:52 AM

In my humble opinion, i like them. I think there a nice addition to the curvature of the vehicle and since i live in the so-called 'sunshine state" it rains everyday in the summer and there very practical.

Robert Z 07-22-2009 09:37 AM

I had them on my 06 350 but the 370 didn't like them, so no on my 370

CBRich 07-22-2009 09:40 AM

I think they are functional and actually like the looks too.

FricFrac 07-22-2009 09:42 AM

can someone post some pics plz?

tru_Asiatik 07-22-2009 09:52 AM

i dont like splash guards in general so i didnt want them before on the z but when i saw pics it looks like it flows really well with the car
so i added it to the list of things i wanted in the car before i purchased
i figured add it to the deal and if i dont like it ill take it off
now that i see it more frequently in my car everytime i see a 370 without it it just looks like something is missing

As an autocrosser, with big sticky tires, I love them. Keeps the small rocks, sand, OPR from spraying/sandblasting down the side of the car.

Thanks for the pics - do you have a closer view of the front ones?

AK370Z 07-22-2009 09:32 PM

 So much hate for the Splash guards? I love these things. Not only they protect your paint, they complete the look of your car (exterior wise). It didn't came with my 350Z but I installed them myself. I wasn't 100% sure how the 370Z splash guards would look but once I saw them in "Educ8r's" car, I was SOLD! Thanks, Alex.

Take a look at these pics

Love the splash guards.

tbonesteak 07-22-2009 10:03 PM

i got it and love it.

XwChriswX 07-23-2009 01:31 AM

I was teetering, but AK's pics sold me.

dalparadise 01-19-2010 09:12 PM

I like the look on the Coupe, but not on the Roadster. Not sure why, exactly, as the cars are the same below the beltline, but it's how I feel.

I like the functionality, though.

Ztoon 01-19-2010 09:30 PM

Had them thrown in with the purchase, but didn't think I'd like the look, so didn't install them.
I just got fed up with the side spray of grit and dirt, and gave in and put them on.
I was really surprised at what a difference they make for such tiny guards.
And hey,... they don't look bad at all.

GETU1 01-19-2010 10:24 PM

Don't have them on mine, but kinda wish I had them. The splash guards kinda make the Z look like there's a body kit on.

KillerBee370 01-19-2010 11:10 PM

No splash gaurds here. Are these an option on the sport package? or is the car supposed to come with them?

(Insert snappy answer here Triple's) :icon17:

motoextreme 01-19-2010 11:37 PM

I'd like to have a set, bought the carbon ones when I first bought the car not knowing they wouldnt fit the nismo (shop said they would)

They are pretty subtle and will likely save you from some rock chips...I'm all for them

I like them, Personally I don't think they are useless and they really arn't all that noticeable. Though I notice right away if a Z doesn't have them.

KillerBee370 01-20-2010 11:16 AM

Well one thing I can tell you from a point of view from someone who tracks his car is that the front one would definitely help as I always have to clay bar that area to get the rubber off (as well as right in front of the rear wheel). The rear doesn't seem to be needed whatsoever as I never have anything on that section after track use.

6MT 01-20-2010 11:29 AM

Nope, not me. I don't like splash guards on the 370. Much cleaner without them IMHO.

frankster 02-25-2010 06:43 AM

Well, uhm - my first post....

I'm from Germany and like this forum alot - nothing around like that here in Germany. :(

But I realize a very big difference in taste...
In Germany, most people actually dislike things like splash guards etc; it's a style of grampa-pimping the car. No real fan of a 370Z would put that things on. Same is with the clear bra thingie. But it's a big story in the States - interesting.

Ok, for the thread being a question to wether one like the splash guard or not - have a guess! :icon08:

I apologize for my bad English - still learning.:icon14:

wheee! 02-25-2010 08:04 AM

Not even an option in Canada as far as I know.... have to go third party if you want'em. And I don't.... ;)

ltp 02-25-2010 10:21 AM

Functionally they don't protect much (a little small) but I like the look especially the rear ones - they make the rear looks more aggressive and less round.

SoCal 370Z 02-25-2010 10:39 AM

Would Not Do It Again

Have them, but would not opt for them again, and here are the reasons why:
  • They change of the overall styling of the Z...not in a positive way.
  • Paint color does not match and looks to have been mixed by a drunken Nissan employee on a Friday. I have not seen any factory 370Z guards that have matched regarding the white color.
  • Too over stylized. The rear set looks like a one year old's snot that ran down his nose.
  • Overpriced.
The last two go hand-in-hand.

You can use a thicker clear bra material, and there has to be a much subtler, but as effective splash guards out there.

tjlazer 02-28-2010 10:41 PM

I just bought my Z 1 month ago and it had ~300 miles on it (09 model!) and it did NOT have splash guards on it. And I can see several scrapes on each rear corner where rocks/debris scratched the paint! I bought some and installed them. They are worth it, and I also think they look really good...

KingZee 03-07-2010 06:25 PM

I was driving out of a shopping center driveway this morning making a right and I guess I was a little too far to the right and my right side fell off the curb and it sounded HORRIBLE, I tried to avoid the rear doing so but I failed horribly and thought my bumper probably fell off. I drove up and pulled over and got out to check...my splash guards were f***ed up and that's it :ughdance:

So they probably saved me what they're worth at least...Anyone know how much these are at the dealer? Right front and rear.

I've been debating splash guards since i bought my Nismo. I got a quote of $100 for front and $100 for back, and the dealer will charge $100 to install all four and add them to my warranty.

I'm going to decide by saturday morning, but I'm torn. I don't really like the look and off-colorness of them, they seem like they're 'tacked on', on a black Nismo. Right now, i'm leaning No. I'd rather save my $$ for an oil cooler.... we'll see.

crazyyankfan 08-08-2012 03:10 PM

After just over a yr of ownership, I finally decided to get rid of the factory pre-installed splash guards. Most members seem to consider the car looks nicer with them. I didn't think they look bad, but just prefer a cleaner look. And I must say I'm very happy to see them off my car now :rofl2:, except for those dust lines which I haven't got the time to wash off lol

sfearl1 08-08-2012 03:37 PM

Whoa, super bump. The first thing I did to the car was remove the splash guards. Same with my 350. Idk, from the side it just looks cleaner to me. And from the rear, the tires show more. Looks more aggressive IMO.
