Rock chips will make the black paint chip and it'll look like crap!
thanks for letting me know! I will tell my body shop. Do you know if it's a flat black paint they use on the grill?

From photos I seen it looks like a matt black, semi gloss finish.
If he is a good body painter he should be able to find out and match it.
In your case would it matter since you Z is black. My Z is silver and if it chiped, well it would look like crap if that was the case.
Those factory racing mesh grilles look nice, wish someone made them state side so you don't have to pay a fortune, Made one once for an AH bugeye Sprite, alot of work!

When I had my conversion done, the shop didn't paint it black. I went back and did it myself with PlastiDip. It really is the best thing to use becuase that area really collects the rock chips.

I had 3M clear bra down there before the PlastiDip, and it still got torn up. I simply painted ove the clear bra and have had zero problems. It's really easy to touch up PlastiDip too.

I intend to paint it whichever black first for the grill and then my body color (magnetic black) for the bumper. Then I'm going to do a wrap. So you're saying rock chips still tore up your clear bra in the grill area? wow
