Roger that. I run my system active as it is now, so I can change freq. crossovers, and time alignments for all speakers. precisely why i'm interested in these.

Can it be done. Yes... Barely. I would advise against it. Anything above the single pod interferes with vision. I will have pictures of a double pod soon and you'll see the space that requires. It looks good but does affect outward vision.

Looking good Gale. When are the install pics coming? http://www.naxja.org/forum/images/avtars/glenn.gif

Mine is laying across my dash so I can test fit the ones I'm working on. I'll try to find some time tomorrow to install it and snap some pictures for you.

Felix 808 02-02-2013 09:54 PM

Look forward to it Gale :tiphat:

Just curious, how much trouble is it to swap out the A pillar? General mechanics I'm fine, but when it comes down to detailed fit and finish

I would hate for it to look cobbled in after the great finish job you do on these.

The finished pillar mounts the same way as the stock unit. At the top of the a-pillar near the headliner you pull that towards the centre of the car. Then approximately half way down the pillar there is a plastic retainer. Using some needle nose pliers twist this plastic retainer 90˚ and pull it out. Then just pull the pillar up and out. Done. The explanation makes it sound harder than it really is.

Updated first page with pictures of the a-pillar installed.

N8GTOL 02-03-2013 04:12 PM

Very nice work! Great idea on the low profile location out of the way of the hidden side curtain air bags.

What does it look like from outside the car though the windshield? Can you see back of the gauge, or is it covered?

If you aren't planning to sell these, then we need one of the forum vendors to hop on this.

esfourteen 02-03-2013 04:47 PM

thats the only a pillar pod I'd ever consider running, great work.

The gauge is fully enclosed. It tapers towards the windshield.

They are available to purchase PM me for details

Thanks! :tiphat:

That's why I built it. I didn't like the other options and I didn't want this gauge with two different style/brand gauges at the triple gauge location.

axmea? 02-03-2013 07:22 PM

Great work. So I'm thinking the bezel came with the guage right? Also, what did you use to texture match?

The bezel that came with the gauge I dyed satin black. You can barely see it, but I don't skimp on the little details. The silver bezel I ordered from Nissan to match the silver bezel on the triple gauges.

axmea? 02-03-2013 07:37 PM

Got it. So the texture match is trade secret? Like I said earlier, great work. Detailed work takes time. Guys at the dealership go nuts when they see something like this.

No trade secret. I thought I mentioned it before. SEM texture spray.

Apoc370z 02-04-2013 06:15 PM

Offtopic but would you be able to make a cover plate for the factory navi dash kit? Since the factory cones with a keypad so the factory dash kit will have a hole at the bottom.

If you can make those, people can have them wrap in cf or leather for the factory look

I can do that no problem.

Whenever you're ready.

Tried a dual gauge pod. I'm happy with how it turned out. More on the first page.

Not to threadjack but...
Well I've heard rumors you can retain your factory warranty with a Stillen supercharger, any idea how true that is? Another big thing for me is reliability...
I am biased to the turbo sound though, no comparison. I need to shop around for pricing as well... I would like to spend around 7K (not including clutch or exhaust) and My goals are about 450-500 on pump. =P

Back on topic, yes, I book marked this. I must have one! I don't mind paying a pretty penny to someone who provides good build quality and takes pride in their work.

Do some searching on the site for Stillen supercharger. I think there was a member who had one installed and he destroyed his engine. I think it was install related and the Nissan dealer who installed it was giving him a hard time about warranting the repairs.

As for the pillar, let me know when you're ready

Cell 05-16-2013 07:30 PM

What if you tried to put the gauge pods closer together so they look like they are stacked on top of each other? Would that work?

Yes, it works. I also tried side by side.

The only issue with what you're suggesting is it blocks quite a bit of vision at that corner. If your'e ok with the blind spot, then no problem.

The single pod is the least intrusive option..

How is the side by side then? Or does that look weird?

I personally think it looks better than running up the pillar (at least from the drivers seat). It is different and might not be everyones cup of tea. I did a temporary mock-up for a forum member and took a picture. I'll see if I still have the picture.

mdxj 05-18-2013 09:06 PM

I would love to have something like this. Planning on installing a oil pressure gauge here soon

GaleForce 06-02-2013 07:41 PM

I recently made a Premium Dual gauge A-Pillar.

Here is how it looks through the windshield,

simota1 06-03-2013 01:55 AM

that is so sexy bro :) great job

Jason, got my a-pillar today. Everything is PERFECT. Pictures do no justice.

Everyone else, if you ever consider doing business with Jason you will not be disappointed. The level of customer service, communication, end product, everything is beyond what you could expect. Hell he even helped me with other car problems I was having, completely unrelated to the a-pillar.

Great to hear! Thank you for the kind words Austin! It was a pleasure dealing with you too.

No I haven't. I've just been helping our people on this forum. I don't know anyone with a G37, and I don't frequent any G37 forums. I just need to find someone in Toronto area that wants one to get the ball rolling. Do you know of anyone?

There is also a chance that I *might* be able to make one if I had a G37 A-Pillar trim and detailed photos of the dash.
