Changing LEDs

I am changing the leds in my car and started with the instrument cluster. I have been driving my wifes car since the cluster is out (waiting on LEDs). Today she left so I had to take the Z. I used a GPS for the speedo. I made it about 10 miles before my car shut off. Apparently when it doesnt see the cluster it turns off the alternator.... Lesson learned I connected the circuit boards back and it turned it back on.
Just an FYI for everyone.

Could be a feature to prevent too many miles going on the car unmarked possibly.. Unless the miles are saved on the ecu in which case no idea why it matters..

What color did you change to? I'd like to see some pics of the work, especially before/after shots.

I kinda like the OEM cluster lights though, not sure why you would change them.
