Robispec Harness Bar Install
3 Attachment(s)
Hi all. This is for the Robispec Harness Bar Install. Instead of doing a complete detail write on removing the interior panels. Others have all ready done it. So I'm skipping that part. But I'm posting a link to what Dustin@Z1 did. It's an excellent write on it.

Once you have the stock bar out. Put your spacer plates that was on the end of the Robispec harness bar in place on the frame bracket sticking out. The bar and spacer plates ONLY go in one way. They WILL NOT fit the other way. THE ROUNDED PART OF THE SPACER PLATE IS ON TOP! SAME WITH THE BAR! My bar went in tight. Thought for awhile that I might have to use a porti-power to jack the frame apart. Had the bar in backwards. Turned the bar around. And it was still on the tight side. But it went in. I put the driver side spacer in first. Next I put the bar in. Raised up the right side alittle and dropped the that spacer into place. Align the bolt holes, and used the bolts that came with the bar.

Thats awesome..

Next. In the first picture. PUT THAT PIECE IN FIRST, before the other panels. Other wise you WILL BE CUSSIN"! Then reassemble your interior. Play attention to the clips and screws that you took out the how they fasten. and there you go. All done. :D

Very nice!
So is this a suitable solution for using racing harnesses now? |
I don't see it on their website, where do you guys order it from?
Btw, how long did the install take? |
you can email/call them directly.

I just ordered mine today too :) Do you plan on adding harnesses/seats also? I have Sparco Pro 2000 seats now and just purchased Takata harnesses with snap in mounts linked in the other Robispec chassis/harness bar thread on page 3.
|
I want seats. Just don't know when. Got other things I want/need. :D
|
Thanks for the pics. Can't wait for mine to get in. Brackets and sliders for my seat are also on the way
|
I was wondering how much this harness bar is. Just started researching everything that goes into a racing seat setup with a 4 point harness. I want to do things correctly so a harness bar is what i want to start with.
How much for the bar? (I have tried calling robi spec and can't get a hold of them so i will keep trying) |
Email him....thats the fastest way I've found to communicate with them.

Just thought I'd share my install and review of Robispec's bar. Taking out all the plastic pieces from the trunk to middle of the car (side sills) was a pain in the butt, but putting the bar in was super easy. Robispec's piece fit like a glove and was made very well. You can definitely tell the difference in strength of this bar over the OEM one. The powder coating was awesome and I would totally recommend this bar to anyone. |

Harness Mount - Door Side-Rennline, Inc. This pic shows the "tunnel-side" mounting location where I installed the Rennline harness mount with the OEM seat belt buckle, so I can use either the harnesses or the regular seat belt. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-s...20install4.jpg Hope that helps. Post up if anyone has any other suggestions/input/concerns. I'm by no means a professional installer/modifier and always looking to learn and also help out by providing info on stuff like this. |

DO NOT get these Planted seat brackets....they are not straight/level and make the seats tilted making you have to do some modification/fabrication for seats to look right.

I would keep trying to email him....might be harder to get in touch with him because of the holidays. I mostly contacted him through email but I think I talked to him on the phone too and even on Gmail's IM service.

that looks like a log distance from the bar to your shoulders... also, the angle looks a little low. |

I've got the wedge engineering brackets. They don't really sit much higher, they are just the height of the bar stock, but they do sit up higher than I would like. I think bottom mounted seats instead of side are the only real option. I had to basically drill new holes in my side brackets and put the seat down on the rail to get them low enough.
|
Mike, not a bad idea drilling new holes in the side mount brackets, with my status side mount brackets and the wedge base, the seats in their lowest position are quite a bit higher than the stock sitting position. Definitely not ideal.
