I haven't yet done my install because I still have some things in my mind. First thought was should I do door or trunk - I leaning toward trunk because I think it will have more impact on overall road noise and even though I have the same exhaust concerns (w/o the exhaust yet tho :icon17:) I drive with windows down 90% of the time which makes the exhaust point moot. Second, I started thinking about giving you back the sample and getting the 80 mm for the entire car. I'm just not sure how much is needed. You can text or PM me a quote if you want ;)

I'll get you a quote as soon as I get into the office tomorrow. :)

overall i was EXTREMELY happy with the install  i love how easy the product is to install, not to mention the rolling tool is an awesome plus... i give gtmat a 10 outa 10... its impact on my z was remarkable, i no longer have rattles when my sub is playing in high volumes. The mat worked out so well i actually turned up the gain on my sub :happydance:

looks like it turned out great!! If you dont mind me asking how many sqft did you order to do your trunk like that? I want to do mine sometime next week. And on a scale from 1-10 how hard was this project?

Slick site. Just ordered 10 sq ft in hopes to reduce drone a bit and help this weird rattle i have at 4k rpm.

Called and left a vm with my number. You still doing the free 10 square feet deal? If so I'll test it out and then depending on how that goes, I may want to do the entire floor of the car in it.

Installed 10 sq ft today in my spare time. Took about an hour. I didn't have any tools for the side panels, but I was able to get it in most of the hatch area. I've yet to take it on a full drive, but it did seem to reduce the volume in-cabin for the drone I was having and the rattle that comes and goes for me (seems like somewhere, there's a penny that fell in...)

afbunn 10-08-2012 10:18 PM

Mine's on the way and I'll post up once I get it installed n stuff.

So as I said before I intalled my sample for Gtmat today. I went for a quick drive and I can say it really did quite down the interior! I was getting this really annoying drone inside the cabin everytime I would get up to 2800 rpm. Intall was very simple cut the 10sqft roll into 1x1 sheets, wiped down the trunk with alcohol, and simply apply each sheet.

I will soon order a 25sqft roll of 80mill to really cover the entire rear.

Looking to purchase some of this stuff to take care of my drone with the short tails. PM me shipped to 85262 AZ

Thank you!

SouthArk370Z 10-16-2012 06:10 PM

I ordered the free sample and three days later it was on the front porch - pretty fast for a freebie. It even came with a free roller (reasonably good quality, too. Not some POS cheapie)!
Spent last weekend installing the stuff. Cutting the sheet was fairly easy once I gave up on cutting it with a knife and switched to scissors. I was only able to cover the rear part of the wheel wells, the vertical panel between the taillights, part of the brace for the strut towers, and a few odds and ends with the 10 sq ft provided.
This was my first time for this kind of project and the results ain't pretty. There are some screws sticking up on the floor of the spare tire area that were a PITA, but I managed to get the hang of neatly poking a small hole in the thick foil after 3-4 tries.
All-in-all, it was pretty easy after a relatively short learning period.
I had the interior panels removed/replaced by my favorite body shop. On the way home I was terribly disappointed in the lack of noise reduction. As I was pulling into the garage, I noticed the panel that goes over the spare tire and the two pieces of carpet that go on top of that. Reinstalled the carpet and discovered that there _was_ quite a bit of noise reduction. :) Thanks GTMat! I'm giving serious thought to ordering another 10 sq ft or so and finishing the area behind the seats, particularly the front of the wheel wells. I might even do the doors.

Quick question for you guys: Do you prefer the mat product shipped in roll form or precut into sheets?

I think my (first-timer) install would have been quite a bit easier if I had had 6-12" squares - I ended up cutting more-or-less rectangular pieces for the larger areas and filling in the small, odd-shaped places freehand from "scraps". I'm guessing that, with more experience on my part, sheets would be better to allow for fewer seams.

PS: A page or two of instructions would have been a nice touch. The install is easy enough to figure out, especially if one has seen a tutorial or two, but not exactly intuitive.

PPS: I'm still impressed with the quality of the roller that was included. I was surprised that one was even included in the kit. Helps make up for the lack of instructions. ;)

I vote for precisely pre-cut product for easy installation in a 370Z :icon17:

Hi SouthArk! A sheet of instructions should have been included along with the roller, a tape measure and a set of decals. If you did not receive these things, I wouldn't mind sending them to you if you still have a use for them, or just want swag. :icon17:

The instructions look like this:

hmmm All I got was a sheet of material and a roller. I have plenty of tape measures and I can wait until I order more material to get some decals. But thanks for the offer. :tiphat:
