Default Interior LED deplacement done but have a question

Just replaced all the standard interior bulbs/licence plate with LED's over the weekend. Next weekend will be the parking lights and reverse lights.

They look great and much better than stock.

The question I have is: Are there any LED bulbs that will not glow after they turn off? I can get them to completely turn off if i switch the dome light to 'off' but when its on 'door' it will glow after they suppose to off.

I searched for some answers but could not find anything.

Its not really that noticable but its there and would like it right.

Any help is much appreciated.

I installed the ones from JWMotoring who is a forum sponsor and I have had no issues with a glow after they shut off. They stay lit for several seconds after I close the doors, but then they shut off. I have blue lights, but I doubt that the color would matter.

Give it a few seconds after shutting the door and locking it. They will turn off. You didnt change the wiring or relays in the car so they cant physically stay on magically without power going to them.

Yes they do...

It's faint, but a lot of LEDs glow just a little after shutting the car off. They use so little power that it doesn't take much.

Hmm so I wonder if the glowing is only from the LED's that replace the bulb directly. It seems like some of the panel LED's do not glow.

I might have to put the ones from JWMotoring into consideration.

Mine do the same thing. But from I can gather it won't stay on too long, but they eventually shut off. I haven't measured how long it takes. I have gone out to check after a couple of hours and they were no longer glowing. I have no idea why this happens? But on another note. I've had to replace several LED's over the last couple of months due to them flickering. What's up with that???

Yes mine eventually turned off after like an hour. Well at least I know it wont drain batteries. But still annoying that they glow at nite while driving. And my drives from A to B are less than an hour LOL!

They glow because even when your car is turned off it still sends a LITTLE bit of residual current through the lines. For a light bulb that takes more power to make light this will do nothing, but your LED's take next to no power, so the littlest current will make them glow for a bit, until that residual power is used up. This will not affect your battery in any way.

I was watching a show on 'green' solutions and they had an LED that your could hold each side of with your fingers and it would glow. Miniscule amounts of power to fire them. It's the technology of the fooooture!

You can get map lights, hatch light, license plate lights and headlights from JWMotoring, a forum sponsor here.

Nothing stays lit without voltage, every electric circuit has a time constant that determines how fast it discharges once the voltage source is removed. That is a factor of the inductance, resistance, and capacitance. You can be a weenie and calculate it if you know all of those factors, Its staying for a short time because the circuit has some sort of overall capacitance for its power factor that stores the charge. Thats what they do. -j/wc

Im trying these out for a while to see if the glowing will get annoying or not.

If so, I guess I'll be ordering the JWMotoring LED's

The way I see it...the only way they will completely go off will be on road trips longer than an hour.

I just did the same LED swap today (blue interior lights) and while it's minimal and not intrusive it was moderately annoying but I'm sure my annoyance will subside after reading the thread.

BTW I got my light set from iJDMtoy.com
