I got mine off with my barehands! haha I was going to use the strap wrench thing...but I decided to try with my hands..and it came right off! No damage or anything!

Haha I did it on my break at work just to see...and it worked! Either I had strong hands or it was loose already :)

Mine seemed to have had a whole tube of loctight used on it. It was a struggle but I managed. Also I had to turn the thing for an eternity before it actually came off. When using the strap wrench do everything you can to keep the strap tight. I know, duh, right? It makes a big difference.

Here you can see the stock knob back in place after I installed the short shifter. No damage.

Going to buy a strap wrench today ! That helps a lot ! Thank you ill keep yall posted !

i snapped 2 strap wrenches... they were brand new too. sears guy thought i was nuts cause he gave me another one after that.

i decided not to use it any more. :D

get the bigger one.

i made sure to pry up the finisher and wrap the shift "lever" with a towel and held it with a vice-grip to counter the turning from the wrench/knob up top.

^^ This. I didn't do this, but should have. Would have made removing the stock knob a little easier.

Success !!!!!!!!:happydance: i got it off!! i tried the strap wrench but no luck ! so i wrapped it with tape real good then put a pipe wrench to it! no crack or anything to the stock knob !! Nismo TI installed !!
