Removal of blockoff plate...

i was planning on plasti-dippin my fangs this weekend and was curious as to how to remove the block off plates? I was thinking it would be easier to tape

I was thinking it would be easier to tape off that way...... Im new to taping off this kind of stuff and am kinda worried about overspray on the black plastic. any advice? thanks!
