ok. just throwing out some stuff ive been able to locate/research.

Im not expert.. nothing can be truly validated without wind tunnel tests.. but here goes

Vents towards front of hood is more benificial for a few reasons:
escapes faster, before building as pressure inside the engine bay. this reduces front end lift. reduces drag. Also venting the air up and earlier lets it streamline before getting to the windshield/roof line etc which helps keep the car down as well. (458 front wheel well vents are above) Also helps keep engine bay cooler as lower pressure = less heat.

Since the air doesnt have to go around engine parts as much etc (turbulence) and flow out through the vents, it should overall increase the air flow vs if you had same size vents in the back. The idea behind these vents would be as mentioned above. This increases the efficiency of your oil cooler/radiator etc. Now having vents in the back as well may help as well, but isnt better than in the front. vents in back would be especially more usefull when your sitting or going really slow and your rad fans are goin.

Truthfully, the size of the vents may not be the most ideal for our car. but then that would also depend on power / speed / altitude, driving style, etc. But to say that the vents dont do anything would be a croc as well.

Now, again, alot alot alot of resources of information like this all over. Sur ebest scenario is they wind tunnel test it. im pretty sure though that nissan doesnt wind tunnel test their cars though (except for maybe gt-r)

I think its a good design.

I think you should make the hood. Type two with GTR vents? let me guess wanna wind test that to? lol I think its to many vents if u do the GTR vents. How about 2 vents on each side.

better than no tests.....:ugh2:

Sure.. I guess having a closed hood to a open hood won't benefit the car at all.

your missing my point....the hood does look sweet and i HOPE it helps. but with no real testing or anything all you have is holes in the hood.

too bad you cant get ahold of a VARIS hood to .......copy.........

I know the test your talking about the one with strings and tape. the only problem with that kind of testing is it is inconclusive most of the time... Dai hit it on the head with the theory behind venting the hood.

Here's an image to support the theory, but I can't read the text so someone else will have to translate... :P
