Carbon Fiber Element Engine Covers (Pics)

This has been a project Ive wanted to get done for along time, but just kept putting off. The Password JDM engine/radiator covers are expensive for what they are, plus the battery covers dont even open which is a feature I wanted to keep. So I contacted Tony@carbonfiberelement and he delievered a top notch product again, hope you enjoy.

kenchan 08-22-2011 09:08 AM

nice job regardless.

Jamaica 08-22-2011 09:46 AM

Not bad.

christian370z 08-22-2011 10:28 AM

Those battery and master cylinder covers look soooo much better than the PJDM covers, very nice!

XwChriswX 08-22-2011 08:10 PM

Wow, those look great... I'm thinking Group Buy! :rofl2:

NewYorkJon34 08-22-2011 08:35 PM

Thanks guys, the carbon is kinda hard to take pics of, I'll take more tomorrow.

But these covers are much better then the password:jdm covers due to the fact that you can open/close the covers. That was something I def wanted with i talked to him about these pieces. With the JDM covers, you have to remove the whole thing.

theDreamer 08-22-2011 08:41 PM

Are these just carbon fiber wrapped around OEM pieces?
Also, the Password JDM pieces have 3 quick clips (battery/fluid covers) which take 5 seconds to take off, not much of an issue and I know since I have taken mine off a lot.

That was something that made me hold off on them as well.

Just out of curiosity, were these solid CF pieces, or did you send them your stock pieces and they put CF over them?

TheGreatOne 08-22-2011 08:57 PM

Carbon Fiber Element does some really good work I must say, they they look really sweet!

NewYorkJon34 08-22-2011 09:05 PM

Stock pieces that are wrapped in real CF, but the stock pieces are sanded down & laid with the real CF so they are the closest thing you could get to a total cf piece. Plus since they are oem, you don't have to worry about fitment issues that are known with the PW:JDM radiator cover.

Ok, cool. Last question would be I have the hood dampeners installed, I'm worried if I tried to install them with these possibly cracking the resin coat around the front mount where the eye bolt for the damper sits. Unless I got some rubber washers for it... that would work I guess.

CFE, if you're reading this thread still... GROUP BUY! :rofl2:

gotta be at least $500. The carbon fiber cover for where you pop the hood for the 350z is over $150 alone. The 370's is gonna be bigger plus all at CF by the battery cover.

Ill be honest, these are probably a couple pieces that will be a while before we do a group buy on, if ever. They were a total paain in the @ss to do. Not the doors, but the outer part was tough. We also managed to keep all the rubber weather stripping and foam padding so everything works and seals as oem as possible. But as far as a GB, maaybe, we'll see.

happytheman 08-22-2011 11:23 PM

Wow, those just look so sick! So much better than the PW:JDM IMO!

NewYorkJon34 08-23-2011 12:57 AM

Thanks for the assist on those pics billet

I just bought an SLR camera, tomorrow I'll be taking a **** load of pics, I'll be sure to take better pics while I'm out. But nothing can capture how beautiful these pieces look in person.

Carbon_z 08-23-2011 08:31 PM

Carbon_z 08-25-2011 08:43 PM

We can wrap what was ALREADY made in your car :) Just take the covers off and ship them too us... YOUR CARS PERFORMANCE and PROTECTION will not be affected by removal of plastic covers :)

Just saying.... If your afraid of the ugly battery being exposed then keep hood closed at a car show you may attend during 1-2 weeks ;)

We can definitely do red Kevlar, yellow, glossy finish or matte finish. :)

Isamu 08-25-2011 10:00 PM

really now..

XwChriswX 08-25-2011 11:32 PM

I would say something about you needing to get rid of those stock intakes, but I know you wanna go FI lol :rofl2: So I'll let it slide.

Those look sweet, thanks for another idea. :tiphat:

NewYorkJon34 08-25-2011 11:46 PM

Ya I was gonna go with the GTM Stg.2 sc, but it wont fit with my LTH's. So Im gonna buy a Zo6, then go with a GTM stg.1 sc much later down the road.

No problem bro, im sure your wallet is gonna love my ideas, lol

LoL I'm in the same boat, I have the LTH's as well and would love the Stage 2 S/C and I'm not so easily swayed that they won't fit until I see some hard evidence. So I'm still holding onto my headers. When the moneys right, I'll get the S/C and if for some reason it actually doesn't fit, I've already got assurance from Tony they can fab up a new passenger side header that does fit.

Yeah, don't wanna derail thread. :tiphat:

My only worry with getting these done is I have the hood dampener mod from kellyefields (they work great) but I'm worried with having to tighten the front eye bolt down onto these, would it crack the resin of the front corner pieces...

CFE, would you be able to comment on the ability of the resin/cf to withstand having a bolt tightened down on it?

(Not ridiculously tight, but torqued to spec??)

NewYorkJon34 08-26-2011 12:07 AM

post a pic of your engine bay so I can see how far it comes down
