Paint Matched Door Handles

Just got mine done at a local shop, figured I would post for those who are on the fence about doing theirs. Looks 100% better IMO.

meh likes

wanna do mine gun metal

c41006 06-18-2011 07:47 PM

Looks nice

Matthew 06-18-2011 09:38 PM

Looks good

christian370z 06-19-2011 12:15 AM

They almost look like gunmetal in the pictures, it looks very nice though! I kind of like the way they are the matte metallic finish stock in terms of contrast against lighter colors but they visually stick out a lot more on Mag black Zs.

Waiz 06-19-2011 12:19 AM

Damn Nissan needs to stop being cheap and have this done from the factory

docaam 06-19-2011 01:22 AM

looks nice

TexasZ34 06-19-2011 11:29 AM

Men i've been thinking about this, looks real nice.

TLSpeed 02-19-2012 01:11 PM

That looks awesome! Did you bring in your car or remove the door handles? Very well done IMO

KB2 02-19-2012 02:02 PM

Got mine done in December. Definitely worth the cost - approx $150. Left the car at Baker Tuning for my Nismo bumper/Tanabe spring/spacer install.

GaleForce 02-19-2012 05:54 PM

Looks good painted. I like the Nismo bumper too.

LakeShow 02-19-2012 06:19 PM

Painted door handles look good but I also like the brushed aluminum look.

kenchan 02-19-2012 07:23 PM

Yah, that looks good.

JWMotoring 02-19-2012 07:35 PM

Nice touch!

AhadV 02-19-2012 08:11 PM

Yeah I like it a lot. Debating whether I would like it on the red.

LukasC 02-19-2012 08:23 PM

Looks awesome!

Liquid_G 02-20-2012 01:05 AM

That looks real good.. but.. God damn its ridiculous how much orange peel we have on the factory paint. So obvious in these pics.

NickBaragona 02-20-2012 07:47 AM

Anybody with a 40th done this yet?

jtsmith1 02-20-2012 11:17 AM

Think I paid about $150. Was getting some other work done (after a tornado went through my town) and decided to go ahead and let them do it. I remember the shop talking about it being a pain to do, not sure if they were refering to removing the door handle or spraying the backside of the handle.

TheGreatOne 02-20-2012 11:24 AM

I'm still on the fence with painting the handles, if I did the ones on my 40th, I would do it black.

Funny enough, that brushed alluminum is good for when I'm in a tight spot near a wall, that stock handle takes damage unlike a painted door handle would lol.

Knight Rider 02-21-2012 11:02 AM

A million times better.

Its not a pain, you can spray it as it normally lays and the only spot that would differ in color is when you open it a small .5x3 inch spot will remain silver or..... You can prop something in the middle when its open to retain it from collapsing closed and then they can spray then..

Its like 2 bolts to take off very easy to do... I did my 350Zs a couple different colors until color matching finally and it was so easy to take off!

I believe Simota1 has it on his red 370z with Amuse kit and it looks amazing!

Shadax 02-21-2012 07:53 PM

Guess I'm gonna be the outcast here -- not feeling this at all.

To each his own, though!

haitech 02-22-2012 02:14 AM

Rather shave then paint

Telephone 02-24-2012 02:38 AM

This will be my next mod. Great job guys!

I picked up my painted handles today from the body shop and the paint did not match. I'm bringing them back in the morning. They warned me about the color not matching perfectly, but this wasn't even close. I gave them my front splash guard to use for comparison.

What color is your car? The dealer matched my Gun Metallic paint perfectly.

UNKNOWN_370 03-07-2012 02:41 PM

The contrast between gun metallic or silver and brushed aluminum looks too sexy to mess with the doors. Those kind of mods are for people with black, white, red, and blue cars.

Pearl white. Sorry, should've mentioned that.
Dropped them off this morning. They didn't use enough pearl...if that makes sense. I'm not sure if they didn't mix in enough pearl, or if they didn't spray enough coats of pearl. ??

I'll post pics once they get it right. This mod is a PITA

It's all about personal taste. Personally, I don't like the look, especially since there is no other brushed aluminum on the outside of the car, with the exception of the wheels to some extent. I like a more monochromatic look.

I don't like the faux brushed aluminum look on the inside too. I hated the trim on the inside of my G37S. Other people went rasy over it.

Now guys love painting them black, but I don't care for that either. I respect their taste and what they want to do with their cars, it's just not for me.

Once it's all sorted, you'll be happy you did it.

You're so right GurneyEagle. It was worth the hassle

Mandingo 03-11-2012 12:32 AM

^looks great. It totally depends on the car's color, but I generally prefer the painted handles.

Mine: Matched door handles

I recently covered the handles with clear bra to protect all that hard work

BLACK BEAST Z 03-12-2012 05:33 PM

My car is black and I'm doing it now it's in the paint shop, hope they match the color .
I'll post pic's when it's done

Glad you are happy. Looks great.

As I stated previously, in my opinion (which I acknowledge is totally worthless), there's no comparison between the silver and painted handles. It really dresses up the car.

xweaponx 04-01-2012 09:02 PM

I wish I knew of a good paint shop around here. Anyone have it done in North Carolina?
