Can you replace the black plug on the rear bumper?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but I don't know what to call it so my search came up empty. I have a 2010 white roadster. Under the rear bumper

Default Can you replace the black plug on the rear bumper?

Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, but I don't know what to call it so my search came up empty.

I have a 2010 white roadster. Under the rear bumper there is a 4"x4" black cover plate of some kind. I have shown this car to my family and friends and I have been asked 4,278 times if there is a trailer hitch there under the cover.

Why not paint that silly thing white? Plus the actual tow point is right above that cover. Its madness....

I think I saw on a photo where someone had replaced this with another center brake light.

I don't want to try and paint this because I will never match the pearl white. Any other options? Can you buy a colored cover? Is it for a brake light in another country? Suggestions?

You can buy the OEM Fog Lamp (and I believe there's another type) for 80 bucks or so.

Looks like this.

But you should be able to take the black plug out yourself if you want to paint it. I'm unaware of any color match painting services.

there was no wiring on my 09, so just wired it up using 2 wires and a nice rocker switch to replace the 3 blanks on the center console.

that too is on a thread somewhere...
