Rainy day in Houston. Had to go in to the office for an early-morning teleconference, so I missed Coffee and Cars.
However...................................... when I got home, with it still pouring outside, I figured it was the perfect time to go out in the garage and install my matte CF interior trim pieces and shifter boot. LOVE the matte finish. Here are the pieces... |

So, the install was easy for the most part. Switch plates and the little dash covers fit perfectly.
Since I never plan on removing these things, I used a touch of contact cement to hold them down. Double-sided tape didn't allow them to lie as flush as I like. These pieces are so thin (a good thing) that once installed they look OEM. |

On to the shifter plate and boot install.
The shifter cover plate fit great too, but I did a little mini mod there. Being a black cf cover was going over a silver piece, inevitably some of the silver was going to show through the two button holes. I could have painted the small bit showing through black, but instead covered the exposed area with Di-Noc. Worked like a charm. When I installed the shifter boot, I left off the silver trim piece that mates up with the bottom of the shifter knob. I couldn't get the silver piece down low enough on the shifter stalk to engage the knob's locking clip. I just wanted to get the knob locked back on and figured I would do it later as I was starting to get frustrated. I like the way it looks. The boot snugs right up against the knob, so if you didn't know a trim piece was supposed to be there, you'd think this was the OEM install. |
looks great bro :D

Onto the tach bezel. Okay, that was the tough one for me.
Getting the little screws out of the bezel with everyone's warning to "not drop the screws" in the back of my mind was tough. It's hard holding the dash cover up while trying to remove the screws by hand just as they are about to come out. Putting them back in was the same drama, but it just takes some patience. Job done. Kudos to CarbonSignal. It took a little longer than expected to get the pieces, but blame that on the custom matte finish, the guys moving the shop, and the holidays. No big drama as none of these pieces impacted me driving the car. I'd highly recommend these trim pieces. They are high quality, fit good and look great. |
