Default 3M Clear bra OR Ventureshield??

hey guys,

Whats your say on the two products.

I would say that Ventureshield is a somewhat better product for the reason that they back it for life while 3M is only for 5 years. However i have heared that 3M has come up with this new 3rd gen tape that does not yellow or cause the orange peel effect. I have also heared of people hating their 3M so much they tore it off and got venture shield. I have never seen venture shield in person but everyone talks about how clear and crisp it is.

I have searched around the net and heare alot of bashing against 3M with regards to their version of the clear bra.

Any input?

I have the latest generation 3M and it looks good, I think both products are actually good at this point. Quality of the installation is very important.

Didn't 3M buy the company that creates Ventureshield?

The company who installed mine was good. He carried both. So, he basically laid 2 strips side-by-side and he just let me decide.

Oh, I had a 3M installed once and it yellowed.

3M did buy out VentureShield but it is still two seperate films manufactured in two different places.

I prefer Ventureshield Ultra but there are some installer that use 3M. Either way you will be happy with getting your car protected.

Also, one main difference is VentureShield bra for the hood is one piece versus two pieces which goes on quite nicely if you get rolled edges. No one can tell there is a bra on.

Having two pieces with other brands leaves join line marks which could collect dirt or yellow over time.

I have the 3M on the hood with the rolled edges and I am having it removed this year. The 3M product scratches so easily with just a wash cloth, that I cannot stand to look at it anymore. I can't remove the scratches in the clearbra, but I CAN remove scratches from the clearcoat....

I have Venture Shield on my MKX and it is awesome, no marks or defects after 4 years....

You know what they say, if you can't beat your competition, buy them out. That is exactly what 3M did in this case.

Yeh but they still use Venture Shields formula for film manufacturing.

I had 3M on both of the previous 350z's and they were horrible looking compared to Venture Shield (VS). 3M is twice as thick as VS although VS is just as durable if not more durable than 3M. The 3M had wrinkles and it's due to the extra thickness and the installer only has one shot at laying it down right the first time. Which is almost impossible, then when they pull it up to relay it t's too late the film has stretched hence the wrinkles in the finished product. Oh and the god ugly even thicker film 3M uses for the headlamps....just horrible looking in comparison to VS.

My VS is two years old and the bra and the front end of the car still looks like it just came off the factory showroom floor.
