What HID bubls are people using ???
Well I have had some trouble finding bulbs that work with my car.
I know the headlights are D2S 35W, but when I install them they just flicker and turn off immediately. There are also other forum members having the same problem. What bulbs have you guys used that worked in your car ? The weird thing is that me and the other person having trouble, both have a 2011.. Did anything change for 2011 ? I mean the bulb is still the same.. |
i just bought a pair that member "westwood" is using. check out his HIDs in his profile one of them posts a link to where he bought his.

I am also having the same issue. Bulbs light up, then shut off immediately. They will not remain on until after I switch them on/off about 3 or 4 times. Seller says that Nissan uses 2-3 different type of ballasts and that the bulbs he sells will not work with mine.... :bs: I honestly don't think Nissan uses different parts from one Z34 to another, but oh well..still waiting to hear from him

guess if they don't work just send them back.. |
im using made in japan garax bulbs. they are supposedly known for their quality and are supposed to be on par with philips bulbs.

So uh,
Modding your lights to produce less of an output is now the cool thing to do? |

the color is what we are trying to change.. I hate that yellowish look of the stock headlight. The 6000K has a tinge of blue in it.. You can go up in K (kelvin) and change the color even more. But I personally think it looks tacky. |
I have personal experience with retrosolutions.com, their bulb and kit quality is amazing. highly recommended. I'll be getting them for the Z soon.

You could get Phillips 6700K D2S if you want ... Here is a picture of them ..http://zcerzero.shop23.makeshop.jp/s...0000000162.jpg
I RUN LA has them on his car ... I saw them on Saturday and they look better than the stock ones with a hint of blue |
Thanks guys for all the suggestions.. I should have some more bulbs in by this
weekend.. I will keep you guys informed on how they work.. |
I talked to a Philips rep and he said that true Philips bulbs are not made above 6000k. Knock off bulbs that use philips technology are anything above 6000k. You can tell if it's a real Philips bulb if it has that red "bloodstain" in the bulb, and they are made in Germany, not Japan or Taiwan. Just a heads up for anyone lookin to get Philips bulbs really cheap. If they're really cheap, they're probably fake.

yesterday. I get in and flip the lights and only one came on.... The non-operational one just flickered and turned off.. I know they are hooked up right.. Other wise, I noticed that they give off a different pattern of light than the factory bulbs.. Not as clean or defined. Like the horizon line is all zig zag now. So last night I installed these bulbs... RIGG : HID : 35W ??????????? These came from the retrofit source. They are some replacements that he recommended. They worked like a charm and had a much cleaner horizon line and beam pattern, plus they work every time.. I checked them before I left the house this morning. |
On theretrofitsource.com I only see the morimotos. Should I ask for RIGGs, is that the brand?

They are only like $50 a pair.. Be sure to get D2S / 35 W |
I've got 6ks and I have the flicker problem....
My driver side bulb will flicker on and then go off... if I switch them off and then on, it comes on fine. The passenger side bulb doesn't do it. I thought it was the bulb quality though... interesting that some bulbs do it and some don't. I like the color of my 6k, I wouldn't go any bluer. |

to find some that worked.. I also have the 6000K and would not go any higher. You could swap the bulbs to the opposite sides and see if the problem follows the bulbs. If so you will need a new pair.. I don't think it's possible to order just 1 bulb because of color differences. |
try 6k or 8k max if u use 10k its to extreme and blue ricey...
|
I put in the Phillips Ultinon 6k bulbs and they work great ,I got them to match the white led parking lights they match perfectly.
|
i finished my iJDM bulbs today, everything went in smooth and is working fine.
Heres some pics. 6000k BTW. New bulb in drivers side and oem in pass. so y'all can see the difference. http://www.the370z.com/members/falco...-37-33-249.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/falco...-37-14-272.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/falco...-38-12-667.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/falco...-38-22-561.jpg |
