if the wing that the OP posted wasnt so expensive i would like that one...
|
There was a time when splitters, wings, aero, and carbon fiber parts were only seen on real race cars. As the race scene spilled over onto the streets and gave rise to tuners these parts were translated into a style. A style based on the mimicking "race cars" and their parts which served a functional purpose not a style. In this translation this function was mostly lost since they only served to mimic and give the impression of race car. So splitters became lips. Canards became triangles screwed into the side of front bumpers, rear diffusers became bumpers that actually act like parachutes. Wings were put on riced out cars the wrong way creating lift, vents that led to nowhere. etc. When you actually care about cutting seconds off your lap time you actually start sacrificing look for function and honestly stop caring about what the other part of the car scene thinks.

Lol guys guys the point of this thread was not to bash civic drivers but to help determine if my z, now as my track toy, would really benefit from the ings+1. I am planning on starting with instruction then move to light track duty with it... I already know I'm not going pro lol. Just trying to figure out if it is worth it for the downforce.
|
I say your best bet is to take your car out to the track. As your skill grows and you begin to out drive your car then add what you need. I say put the money on suspension and brakes. If you've done that a good bucket seat to use when you are on the track.
|
Ya brakes and suspension are next I am just already seeing a lack of downforce at 100 mph+. Don't tell the Houston cops!

I am not sure how much additional downforce this wing makes but I want one...
Its even Nissan compatiable http://www.limpidity.org/images/Zpics/cars-26.jpg |
Does it come with the extra option shown or is that just a GT-R option? :p

A good quality discussion is happening about something people are interested in and you are just trolling it. :gtfo2: |
I find this thread informative, and would like to ask all who have nothing to add positive to not comment. This is the tech section so left the B.S. in the general discussion section. Thank You.

Some Subaru cars come with massive wings from the factory and they serve a purpose. Besides, why does it bother you when someone takes their money and spends it on an aftermarket part for their car to make themselves feel good? Now, stick-on-vents should be banned from the roads. :D I'm glad the Blue370TTs messages were deleted (well, most). I didn't want to post a 500 word essay on how and why so many Civics run 12 to 10 second quarter miles for a fraction of the cost of the 370Z. :tiphat: It's sad the entire Honda tuner scene has been lumped in with the Rice. I expected more from Z owners especially with how cheap the 350z's are getting. |

how come someone hasn't designed a rear wing using the same mounting supports where you can just bolt-on or off the main wing part from track style or smaller street/dd style when needed??
