JDM Password Kevlar Cooling Plate Installation
I jut got my JDM Password Kevlar Engine compartment covers and cooling plate. The OEM parts come out very easy. No tools required. I installed the compartment covers and that was simple and a good fit. I then tried to install the cooling plate and ran into some problems. The JDM product does not fit in that well?? It covers over the windshield washer bottle and the clip for the hood arm does not line up?? Has anyone installed this JDM product that can give me some tips?? Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe the cooling plate needs to be trimmed, but before I take it into a body shop and start hacking a $400 part up I wouldn't mind some feedback.
Thanks,http://www.the370z.com/images/smilies/confused.gif |

no pics buddy. looking for somebody that has had this part installed. They will understand.

Equinox has the PW JDM parts installed without any issues. If you get a chance post pics so people can see if you're having an issue that can be fixed.

i have the pw:jdm radiator cooling plate installed. no issues. and i bought it used off of mike bonnani, who didn't report any issues (i think). |
Dreamer has them. And you are right they do not fit perfect.
|
Mine fits overall, but the hood prop hole is off.
I got it to work without modifying the Password JDM piece. |
Thanks for the folks who had reasonable responses. Dreamer, are you happy with the product? I got it to work does not sound positive? How does your hood close now? Where does the hood holder arm sit and clip in?

I ended up just cutting the hood prop clip slightly, it fits in the normal spot where it goes normally. My hood closes fine, mine fits perfectly minus the hood prop clip. I bought some hood dampers for this car in hopes I could get rid of the hood prop but the dampers sucked. :(

I'm still using the hood dampers from
Proguagues and they are very good. Check out my DIY for the modshack version I copied. Works very well. :p I'm still thinking about getting the JDM CF radiator cover down the road. Maybe next season. |

since i connect the battery to its battery manager every weekend i need quick access to the battery and the factory cover is more effective for me. i dont want its umbilical cord hanging out in the engine bay cause it gets too hot for the cord. tried it, temp was near 130F....too hot. i think the radiator cover is a nice decorative piece though. :p put that and some nice dressupbolts and it will be a very pleant look, i thinks. |

I have both the compartment covers and the radiator cover in CF.. the fit on those is not perfect, had to muscle in a couple of the clips but in the end worked out ok.. |

with that said, i opened the hood to take a look and noticed the hood is coming down too low onto the cover plate, bit of red flakes on it now ><' |
so in a nutshell, just leave it stock. :D

It looks like a fujimura perfect fit diffuser.

correct
|
now you know difference between fitment of made in japan parts and wannabie made in japan parts.
|
Know question the fit is great. Buy the way, getting the JDM cooling plate installed at a friends shop tomorrow as well as my exhaust and intakes. Should be a fun ride home tomorrow night. One thing about the Fujimura CF Diffuser it looks great but I have to say the quality of the CF isn't the best. Very sparce. I have an EVO CF front fang and the CF quality is much better.

OK. I had a profesional (autobody technician) install the JDM cooling plate and it fits pretty darn good. He had to trim for the windshield washer fluid bottle. The hood arm clip hole also needed slight triming and that is about it. Looks nice. The Stillen intakes and exhaust where also installed yesterday as well. I'll get the car cleaned up and get some pics posted later today.

Tell you the truth guys many JDM items are not really made in Japan. I have seem them in factories, just that I can not buy direct. Only on items that Japanese compaines did not pay for molding fee, then I can get. For some example... VARIS R35 GTR all dry carbon parts, 350Z mines carbon front lip and many other items. But 370Z parts I have not find any.
