New gauges question

Hey i had a crazy idea to create a brand new gauge cluster. Like no shared parts. Does anyone know what that would entail? What sort of things i would have to calibrate, connect, create, that sorta thing.

to sort of describe my idea, i want a rev counter in the middle of a ring. the ring itself has speed markings and physically rotates counter clockwise, while a pointer shows what the speed currently is. im guessing i'll need to tap into the speed signal and calibrate a motor to move at the right speed?
