Stillen Roof Wing

Would work even better if it were a vortex generator ala the WRC ones that made their way into the aftermarket scene.

Not to nit pick but the vortex generator on the EVO MR was not aftermarket. It came on MR models factory. Black on the 8 and painted on the 9. I had a 9 MR. I get what you are saying though, I've seen some unfortunate examples on random cars that don't look good or functional. On the EVO they were to ensure air hit the rear wing.

OP, I like it. It's subtle.

One could argue that the downward force would now be to the immediate front of the rear wheels instead of behind the rear wheels at the rear deck lid wing. But because any deflaction force with this wing is now moved more than half the distance toward the CG point of the car it would lessen the amount of downward force being generated over the wheels.

So someone please explain what is it's advantage as the physics resulting from its location seems to suggest a possible disadvantage.
The aerodynamics just went out the window!

Will do, I have much to learn about Aero. Thanks Mod

EDIT: I'm assuming then that our cars are streamlined enough in the transfer from roof to rear window where the flow doesn't separate too much. Could it be better to speed up the surface layer with some vortex generators? every bit helps I guess. Like I said, much to learn.

Its funny, but I read something that completely contradicted that whole article a while back. Can't trust any sources these days I guess.

So whats your opinion on this wing? Will it do more harm because of the separation/drag that it will cause or is the downforce (if any) created by it worth the drag? Or is there no way of knowing without testing..

I have never read any article such as this one where the writers want their cake and want to eat it too by way of magically transformating the theoretical into conclusions with little to no substantive resultive test evidence...
