Clamp crossbar mount

3 Attachment(s)
This seems to work fairly well and doesn't shake or vibrate. You can get these assembled from eyeofmine.com or you can get the clamp from Bessy tools (XV5-100) and make one of these fairly easily. I didn't like the orange color of the original handles so out came the plasti-dip can (not spray). Plasti-dip made a huge difference in how well it grips the crossbar. I'm going to make my own bracket for the end of the clamp that is a little sleeker looking. I'm also looking for a slip knot cord to attach to the clamp in case of a crash. It grips really well but you just never know.:driving:

Is used 3 plies of 2X6 with a plastic conduit clamp and secured my GoPro to the bar. It works fine, just hard to start. If the link works it will show the view out the front. It was my first ever track event at Road Atlanta, last run. I glanced at the instructor and missed the fact it was a green flag. I made up for my error after I let the two cars go by...

Waiting for a point-by is a bitch...

Oh, I attached some pictures of the mount I created. it is crude, but efficient, and cheap. The last picture is looking back through the windshield so you can see where I actually mounted it. Oh, you must setup the camera to use the spot meter setting and make sure it is out the windshield, otherwise you will have a great video of your interior on sunny days.

Headstrap video from Zdayz.
The problem which I'm not sure how to solve is the conditions of white out with light reflection from the road. Not sure if there is a setting to compensate.

Location: Head Strap mount
Video setting: 1280x720p
Frames: 60 FPS
Backlid: OPEN
Impression: Good, but white out conditions if it's bright out at certain points on the tail of the dragon.

Do you have any video of your driving with that mount? I'd like to see a video

BMWCCA is notorious for not allowing stuff. I'm actually in a process to make my own mount :D. I'm working on a DIY and will post soon. It'll be either an amazing mount for incar videos or bust! But I'm excited.

Are you referring to my video?

BTW, I have been using Windows live movie maker. It used to put this annoying black strip around my video (as you can see in post 1). I can't believe a 2 second option change will take out that annoying black edge!! :shakes head:

GO to project and click on 16:9, that's it.

BTW, just bought this new SD card for the Go PRO HD. Anyone uses it? review?

I think my last update was in 2011 when they released the flip upside down feature.

Personally, I would stick with the name brands like Kingston and Kingston and if you realy need to substitute it, then go with Kingston.

Patriot Memory is a American Company, been around for a while and is headquartered in Fremont, Ca. A good friend of mine is a VP of Operations over there.

GoPro mfg recommends SanDisk, I believe that is what I am running. My bad, I previously mentioned Kingston. Kingston is what I use for laptops and desktop memory. It all comes down to a personal preference and results from benchmark tests.

AK, here's the video you wanted to see with the bar clamp. Removing it is just a matter of squeezing the handle which is really nice. Using plasti-dip on the ends of the clamp really helped hold it in place.

Just a short freeway drive to work:driving:

I've not had a chance to try it yet. Found it on amazon. Don't have the price handy though.

GF just bought me the GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition for my birthday. Now I have to find the time to mess with it. :icon14:

SgtGoldy 03-22-2013 03:50 AM

Dang! I'm surprised I haven't seen this thread yet! My wife is getting me Hero3 Black for Fathers Day. I'll probably bug her so she'll get it for me early (I hate waiting...).

Rusty 04-07-2013 03:27 PM

Anybody who has bought a Hero 3 Black Edition, and is having problems with it. Here is a good forum to get some answers. When you buy one. You either get a good one, or you may get a POS. :shakes head:
