ALL Pearl White Owners - Please Check In!
Wassup fellas! I purchased the Z about 4 weeks ago and when I looked at the car, I noticed the rear bumper color was considerably off. The side skirts and front bumper were a bit off too but not bad. I brought it up to the sales guy and he said its how they come from factory and b/c the bumper is plastic. So i shrugged it off and still bought the car. I came aboard here and read a few threads that this is a common problem among PW Z's. I made an appointment this week to bring it up with Nissan to see if they can respray the parts. I'll keep you guys updated. So if you have a Pearl White Z check in and report if your bumpers match the car!

I would defiantly not let that fly. Bumper was probably replaced. Or even worse the car could have been in a minor collision.
Whoa! I'm usually pretty bad at pics, but that's an obvious difference. Take it back!
Wow that's so...bad. I honestly wouldn't have accepted it and would've asked to check out another on the lot to compare.
my Z's rear bumper paint is off but not that bad.
Mine definitely does not look like that. You better take that back!
My bumpers are fine, but the side skirts are off a bit... i believe there is a long on going thread about this, if you want more input.
mine is pretty off like that too but i already put on the clear bra so didn't want to deal with it and take up my time. It bothers me from time to time but i think i can live with it. I bought the car at night so i didn't really notice. You can notice it on certain angles and lighting. You can't really notice the difference from far away or really close up. You might notice it 5 feet away. Check out my album if you want to see mine.

Just bring it in! They will respray it, it's obviusly not acceptable. Read my thread on this ,
mine looked the same way! |
man i'd be mega pissed if my rear bumper was that off...
definitely the rear bumper was replaced.
my friend has a PW and thats not the color on his bumper. i think the car was rear-ended when someone testdrove it or someone bumped into it in the car lot. |
those are odd things to see. I wonder why Nissan is having weak paint once again. I really do like everything but the paint...
I've seen some off paint, but that's worse than I've ever seen :shakes head:
Grab some day shots at different angles too plz |
thats about how far off my side skirts are. no, the bumper wasn't replaced, they are painted at different times with different batches of paint and a different type of surface being painted, which is what causes the variance in color.
dang man, that's just too much now !
Eeekk i am interested in getting a pearl white z. Would you know they fix this paint issue for 2010?
I doubt it. Just keep a lookout when you're shopping for your car, and let the dealer know that anything that noticeable will need to be fixed before you take delivery.
The pores in the plastic are molecularly different, so I'm afraid you're stuck with that deal and Lemmon Laws are weak, so, good luck.
Wow that looks bad!
DAN |
Dang, so it looks like its not very common among Pearl White Z's. I will let you guys know what happens on Wednesday when I bring it in.

The dim light really accentuates the difference, pretty much the same that is on my car. They were painted at two different times as previously stated. I bought my car in September, it probably is too late. But whatever, no biggie.
How much would it cost to be resprayed? |
Holy $hit thats bad, mine are fine, nothing like that at all. You didnt notice that when you bought it?!?!?!
Some of us have no issue, some minor, you major. Hope whomever resprays it gets it looking as good as "new", I definately would not have taken delivery of that!
...Bridget Regan...sigh...

I have a PW on order, being manufactured this Month, I wonder if Nissan has addressed this issue??
I'm more worried that its a match or reasonably close to a match, but then over time it gets worse - when your less likely to get the dealer to do anything about it. I've had several motor homes, and it is really noticeable as the unit ages. The paint matches day one but because of the different materials underneath, the paint ages differently and changes shade. Its really noticeable with white. Has anybody seen the color difference get worse with age? |
I looked at an old PW 350z in a parking lot the other day and it looked fine, just a tad bit off, the usual. Had to be at least 4-5 years old.
Update:
Got a call back from Nissan today and they will pay for my front and rear bumpers to get resprayed. Bad news is I have a clear bra on the front bumper that is less than 2 weeks old! Grrrr! |
Nissan paid to have my sides resprayed as well. Went from about 5-6 shades off to about 1 shade, which makes me a lot happier
im pretty sure everything match on the car, but when i leave work ill check it out.
My plastic parts don't match the metals parts perfectly either, but you can only tell in certain lighting. Doesn't really bother me.
Yea I got my car back 3 weeks ago. The white matches perfectly, but now the pearl in the paint doesn't. Oh well.
If you guys take it back to the dealership and complain, I don't think Nissan will turn you away. I think its more of a customer service/satisfaction issue. They want to keep their customers happy. |
ok i just bought a pearl white Z and my bumpers and side skirts are WAY WAY off especially my rear bumper. Ive already talked to Nissan USA and they said they are going to call the dealer and get back to me in the next few days. I was very polite over the phone but now im worried I down played it by being too nice, im kinda freaking out so for those of you who had they're cars resprayed can you please let me know anything that will help me in my dealings with Nissan USA and help me to get my bumpers resprayed? Thanks for the help everyone!!!
