Default Is this Headunit worth getting?

I saved my aftermarket subs from my old car and was going to put them in the Z along with an upgraded HU. Anyways I think that time has come due to the fact that the touring bose speakers are less than adequate.

Found this on Amazon and am not sure if this is worth getting an entry-level double-din touchscreen or just paying more for a better HU.

Amazon.com: 2013 MODEL PIONEER AVH-X1500 DVD / AVHX1500 DVD In-Dash 6.1 Touchscreen: Car Electronics

I don't really care for all of the crazy features that the higher-end models feature; all I'm really concerned about is the improvement in sound quality, and I actually prefer aux cable over bluetooth, so really all I need is an inexpensive HU to meet the standard.

Basically should I get this because it is worth getting or should I just spend more for a higher-tier HU? I'd like to stick with Pioneer just because I think they make good headunits.

i run 4500BT on my Z. for bose, you'll want the 4V pre-outs.

You'll probably get better answers in the Audio & Video section... (edit, just noticed you noticed haha)
But If all you're looking for is a good double din, without too many bells and whistles
that will probably be more than you're looking for. I personally will go one step above
what I'm wanting if I can afford the spare $$$, just to ensure I'm happy with it later
just in case I end up wanting just a little more...

That being said, from what you've described this HU will probably be sufficient.

If you haven't seen the interface in action, here's a video for you.

always found pioneer to be a pretty solid piece of equipment. I went with the X930BT, its a bit fancier from the way it looks. i also didnt have bose and went with an entirely custom audio set up.

none the less always pleased with pioneer!

Edit: the x930 is an older model now. Were up to 940 now I think

From my experience, you might get over those buttons pretty fast.. For $50 more you can get a little better system with some better features

The 2500 and 4500 have the same audio, the 4500 just has a bigger screen. Compare to the base HU, there is a notable difference with the 4500. I am still pissed that the App Radio feature doesn't work with this unit

There was a recent thread within this week, youll have to do some searching.

But it was an EBAY unit, with literally every feature available..

6-7" Screen
Backup Cam
Nav
Bluetooth Audio
Ipod
DVD
Pandora
Etc..

I think he paid $300.

actually the 1500DVD/2500BT has 2v pre-outs and 4500BT has 4v preouts and bigger screen.

the software is the same though. 2v preouts might be too soft to run the RCA in's for the bose. rule of thumb had been to use 4v+ for RCA in harnesses for bose.

I forgot to add that I don't really care about the screen size. The only feature ill be needing to use is changing songs from my phone. So pretty much the headunit is just to upgrade from stock. So far from what you guys have said, the 2500,3500,4500 are the possible options.

Sorry, I meant wattage from the speakers. I believe they are all 50w peak on all four. I don't have an amp/sub It might be too much for listening to NPR.

Oh yeah, on the 4500, the lack of knob to control volume takes a little to get used to.

oh ok. yah, i dont run amps or subs on my base 370Z either. the bose has an amp and sub built-in, so they'd use the scoshe/metra harness with RCA's and run line-in as if they have an amp and sub installed. that's when the 4v pre-outs are handy.

i did exactly that on my other car that has bose. it sounds pretty good, actually. FAR BETTER than the stock bose the car came with.

btw, did you run ASWC or PAC to get your steering controls working?

Yes everything that should work are working. I even rewired my backup can to be on demand rather than automatic or go thru the menu to activate it.

you didn't use the reverse wire for your rearview camera? not that it's a requirement, just convenient.

considering the huge dumbo sidemirros we have, there should be a camera option to view the curb clearance while parking.

I have it set up so the reverse wire gets 12v whenever I hit a switch. I don't have it wired to the reverse wire as I sometimes use it to monitor my cargo with my trailer. That way I don't have to go into menu and select rear view camera everytime I back up, I can just hit a switch in the center console
