Love it or Hate it! Wide body concept design...

Ok, So I know some of you like my work as far as designing stuff for the Z... Well this one takes the CAKE!!! I just started the initial drawing today after work and I think this is going to be one heck of a design. This is the most excited I have been on any of my designs!!!

Now some of you are going to hate it and some will love it... That being said this kit design is not for the faint of heart!!! :happydance: I am actually considering having this one made for the Z. This is a bold kit and you better have the A$$ to back it up! I will be posting on the design progress as I really want to see this kit made and I have already called and talked to several shops to make this kit. Some of the shops make le-mans car body parts and some of them worked for Panoz... Price is what is killing me right now but who knows I have several call backs remaining from several shops...

So without further Ado here is the initial drawing::tup:

Gaudy as hell.

Jjaden 03-22-2010 09:30 PM

Let me be the first to say, I LIKE IT!
Hard to judge things just from a drawing but I really like the lines.
I'm not crazy about the hood but I like what you've done with the front end.

frost 03-22-2010 09:30 PM

I like wide body, but subtle.

import111 03-22-2010 09:33 PM

I think it looks pretty good. A little over the top but like you said, it is bold.

nogoodname 03-22-2010 09:36 PM

Hood looks similar to the VIS design.... Other than that, not liking the rest.

bullitt5897 03-22-2010 09:36 PM

The whole point of the kit is to stand out and say BAM!

I took a few hints from tech art... some from JGTC... Some from Amuse (s2k) and some from Tamon design...

Well,

The lines come straight from a stock 370z... Well sort of lol

I take a picture of a 370z then I stare at it in photoshop for a good 15min and let my imagination go with lines... I kid you not I stare at the picture for 15-20min straight hehe :ughdance:

So after I am done staring I use the line tool in PS and start continuing the lines of the car. by the time I am done it looks like a grid of lines on the picture with curves.

Then I look at complimentary lines and draw them in a separate color.

I then start deleting lines and curves until I find the best combo of complimenting lines.

Once I get done with that I draw the basic car shape in a rough sketch and begin to draw some ideas on paper. (the eraser is my friend :bowrofl:)

After this is all done I will clean up the design (next on the list) and make a finalized drawing. ( I may go through 6-7 or more changes to the design before I get to this point)

Definitely agree if it's for a show car only.

mayesj101 03-22-2010 10:05 PM

I like this!

bullitt5897 03-22-2010 10:05 PM

this is mainly for show purposes... but I am sending the designs over to some guys who worked for Panoz and their wind tunnel testing team to give me the yay or nay on design cues.... these guys have 20+yrs experience with building and designing race cars and they are going to approve my final design and possibly build it in CAD for me.

bullitt5897 03-22-2010 10:06 PM

on a side note it will be DD'd :D hehehe

Jamaica 03-22-2010 10:09 PM

i like it. take it to ait. maybe they can do something with that.

Brazilbro 03-22-2010 10:14 PM

looks like a GT500 car

u155282 03-22-2010 10:16 PM

I say go for it man. If your wallet can handle it and bold is your thing, then why not? You only live once.

AIT could do it but they make replicas mostly.

Thano 03-22-2010 10:25 PM

Looks insane. Don't listen to the haters. It's yours and would be wild to have a kit that YOU designed on your own car. Totally unique and i give you props for it!

NewlyIMPORTed 03-22-2010 10:29 PM

i love that hood if that hood was on a silver z and the vents were carbon fiber i would goo myself

bullitt5897 03-22-2010 10:39 PM

Imagine pearl white with CF louvers.... ahhhhh skeet!

Chriz 03-22-2010 10:43 PM

I like it:tup: but sort of reminds me of a Genesis coupe...

Jamaica 03-22-2010 10:46 PM

ait can make a one of product but has to be for the right price. just like the altima gtr bumper.

bullitt5897 03-22-2010 10:57 PM

how much was the altima GTR bumper when they first approached it?

RCZ 03-22-2010 10:58 PM

Love it.

Endgame 03-22-2010 11:25 PM

I like...

Rogue Z 03-23-2010 12:09 AM

Like it if it keeps the side markers and has a different hood...

phelan 03-23-2010 12:10 AM

hmmm, the sides look good from what i can tell. the front screams tamon design a bit too much, i think you can do better than that. and the hood too. that lil' middle scoop isn't quite working for me.

with that said, i wanna see a 3dCAD model of this

iceman21_23 03-23-2010 12:12 AM

going for that havoc 350z look? http://www.ibherdesign.com/eb/350z-g...avoc-front.jpg

OMGWTFBBQ 03-23-2010 03:12 AM

Reminds me of this wide body G37.

http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa176/hibnah/2-4.jpg

I actually like it so far.

ricky bobby 03-23-2010 03:25 AM

 in black it could be the next batmobile :tiphat:

cab83_750 03-23-2010 04:16 AM

How about KISS and just follow what Porsche does -- just make the fenders bold and muscular. This should also keep the cost down a lot. BTW, I a a fan of wide-bodies.

Mine was the very first for the altima at least. I got my for dirt cheap. Still no one has it but one other person from japan. But i love it alot of people hate it but I love it.

bullitt5897 03-23-2010 08:41 AM

I will definitely give them a shout when I finish the design.

theDreamer 03-23-2010 08:57 AM

Will hold judgment till more drawing/pictures, you have the lines of the car down really well but not sure on a few things, but it might be because of it just being a rough sketch.

bullitt5897 03-23-2010 12:56 PM

so I submitted the Initial design along with my Jon Sibal rendition to AIT Racing... We will see what they have to say * fingers Crossed *

theDreamer 03-23-2010 12:57 PM

Do you have more drawings or just this one?
Also, why the opening on the hood? Your last drawing had it and with the lines of the 370 it just did not seem to flow as well. I think with the hood and the vents you have those might work, but the opening not so much.

bullitt5897 03-23-2010 01:26 PM

new image cleaned up a bit:

Zerafian 03-23-2010 01:31 PM

little bit of do luck action on the front fender hu :)

OMGWTFBBQ 03-23-2010 01:34 PM

The rear wing's end plate reminds me of Do Luck as well.

Jamaica 03-23-2010 01:52 PM

FYI Jon can be a flake lol been there and done that lol Need to go over his head.

phelan 03-23-2010 03:19 PM

^ lol what

and now the bottom of that front lip really is screaming "i'm a hyundai genesis coupe"...and a tamon design top lol
