VA is pretty anal and I don't think there are any dealerships that will let you take the car home without putting the front plate on... I have had front plates on all my cars so I guess I'm just used to it.

I don't like the Stillen, it blocks the front intake.

I live in Los Angeles so if I want to put on the back plate, I need to put the front on too or else I'd get a ticket. I don't like how the car looks with a plate on the front

I heard from a source that the only get away from having to put on a front plate is if you buy a new car with a paper tag on your front windshield, and you can ride with that for 6 months without plates(or until you get pulled over)? I don't think tag has a expiration date... Is any of this true? I looked and searched everywhere online and at DMV and it never stated we need to put on our plates within a certain time of receiving it.

How long did you guys drive your new cars without your license plates before you finally decide to put them on?

I lived in Ohio - a state where front and back are required. I decided to move to a state where only the back plate is required - Georgia. Also better roads and weather for my baby - it all worked out great.

I live in CA which is a front plate required state and have not put a front plate on any of my cars since 1982. I've only had 2 moving violations in that time and neither time was ticketed for missing the plate. I don't think the officers even noticed. However, I did get pulled over for it one time in what was really a chickensh*t move by a cop. I was driving down my street which was near a school. Traffic enforcement was heavy in that area because of the school, and I always drove easy in that neighborhood. A motorcycle officer had a minivan pulled over and was writing a ticket. As I approached the scene, the officer stepped out into the street and waved me over to the curb. I thought WTF I was doing less than 25 MPH. He finished writing the other ticket and then came up and wrote me a fix it ticket for no front plate. I put the plate on, paid something like a $20 fee and took it off again after the police station signed off on it. I refused to buy my previous G35 and my 370Z if they had holes drilled or plates mounted. I'll take my chances. Now I'm also near 55 years old and don't drive like an idiot so my chances of being hassled are low.

Bunch of conformists in here telling you to put your plate on. I say, fight the power. Don't let the man bring you down.

:iagree:

Bought mine in May, and still have paper plates. I will not install a front plate unless they force me too.... :icon23:

Haha, I agree with Frost :iagree: I live here in Cali in los angeles and I haven't put on my front plate for almost 10 months now. Even when I got pulled for my tint cop didn't say anything about my front plate. If you live in an area where other nice cars drive around without it maybe you might get away with it, but, if your car sticks out like a sore thumb then it's your call. Good Luck

i believe the front plate law is more for the photo citation than for the traffic cop.
if you don't have the front plate on, it can only take photo of the back plate and if that photo is blurry, they can't issue the citation.
