StevenSlice 12-27-2017 11:47 AM

The problem is that the cost of a replacement hood is more than the cost of having someone who knows what they're doing put them in.

I would say cannot be worse than putting in the SC but that was my car not yours.
If you want I will start cutting for you. :rofl2:

I'm absolutely convinced that only the first cut will be nerve wracking. Once you're committed it's probably a breeze.

I am in the same spot, I have them and don’t know if to do it myself. Can you guys give some tips? Like the best location on the hood? What to use to cut it? And anything else that can help. Thanks!!!

I have a spare hood to practice on. If it warms up a little bit maybe I can get EW to help document the install or if it goes terribly wrong, what not to do. :icon17:

BGTV8 12-27-2017 09:04 PM

Can you tell me the distance from the leading edge of the front of the hood to the rear of the centre vent .. I have an 6 x ITB kit for my car and I suspect there won;t be clearance with the centre vent fitted BUT it would be useful to know

It is 28" to the back of vent from the front of the hood and 15" to the front of the vent from the front of the hood.

It would have been nice if some would make a template for this.

How much that vents cost.

Can we have a frontal shot on top?

Hey Chuck, cutting the hood is the easy part, it's the layout work that is the nerve racking part & can drive you batty. Take your time in the prep work. You can make templates with card board. Tape the hood to prevent / minimize splintering of the paint Small die-grinder & take your time. I'm sure there is a good 1/2" of flange on those to cover any jagged slips.

:iagree: Good advice. Remeber, you have 1 shot at getting it right & in this case 3 chances to muck it up ;)

Good luck

Anyone else completed their install? We need more pictures, lol.

Hotrodz 02-04-2018 09:09 AM

Just an update on the functionality. I was at the track last weekend and the temps on Sunday got it the low 80s and I never saw water temps out of the norm according to the oem gauge and the oil temps were 230ish. The other awesome thing is that the temps fall very quickly when you slow down. By the time I would get back to my spot on paddock the temperature has dropped 10* or more.
