370z headlight bulbs
I've been curious to find out if I was to get brighter headlight bulbs, will my headlights still have the fade on option? I love that about the newer Z's and I don't want that to go away but I don't know if that has to do with the stock bulbs or not. Any help will be appreciated!
|
I beleive how the light starts out a different color and gets brighter over the first few seconds is inherent in all xenon healights. If you switch the bulbs they are still going to do that.

Is there a suggestion as to what might be a good brand and what color brightness? I've never changed bulbs before! I'm very new to this.

What you have now is the brightest. As you go up the spectrum to 6000, 8000 and higher, the output will get bluer and intensity (white light) will be reduced. Unless you're a ricer looking for an image, what you have now is as good as it gets.. |
Definitly not a ricer..thanx for that gay comment tho ;) But anyway...if you comprehended what i said ..." I'm new at this.... never changed a bulb before..."..I do know there are some out there that look more crisp and brighter than the one on the Z. Just didn't know where to look

stock Hid lights are at 43k, so if you look at Vipors Scale you have some wiggle room to improve it slightly..
|
i want some 6000K or 6500K bulbs
|
hey vipor, haven't we done this before?
|
yeah seems vaguely familiar...
didn't find that 2nd image the first time though. i like the in-car shots |
Yea, the 6k looks pretty good...not sold on the blue. That's too much
|
SophiaZ, there are different brands to choose from, use the lighting scale as a guide to choose what you prefer as to brightness..

If you need something a little more bluish (less light output), 6000K should be good. I believe some members here run 6000K bulb. http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...00k-bulbs.html http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...0Z_com/hid.jpg Good thread to read http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...hts-8000k.html http://www.the370z.com/exterior-inte...bulb-size.html |

For me the output is more important than the color. I drive a canyon road home after a night shift with no street lights. If there is debris or animals in the road I want to see that stuff asap.
With that being said what you guys are saying is that the stock bulb puts out the most white light right? Anything higher will give a color change and the apprearance of brighter light but less actual light on the road? On a realted subject I think Monday I'm going to pop out my front signal bulb and see if I can match it up with the right silver coated bulb where I got them for my M3. I think I found the right dual filiment, but the bulb number is slightly off and it's one watt less. While I was in there I was thinking about getting a front side marker bulb and parking light bulb that match the white color of the headlamp (One is LED). Has anyone researched the front silver coated bulb (so you don't have the egg yolk effect of the amber one) and the front marker & parking light? Don't flame me for not searching yet lol. |
Modshack..whats up with you and the word ricer? Word of the day?!!!! I am not looking for attention (image) as far as my car OR MYSELF goes....get too much actually. I like function...and difference. Not your local plain-Jane. Go enjoy your blue Z..... your car, your choice :)

Lookcarefully at the garage shots in post #10 |
So than..there are no 6k lights that give off straight white light and will make the road more visible? I've seen some 6-8k lights that show road as well as more off road (i.e. grass, trees...) I am only worries about the deer and little creatures..as I also drive at night

We will be the judge of that: :worthless: |
ok...explain how to post a pic................
|
Also..I was not trying to be rude to MODSHACK, but assumptions are not ok in my book. I do not accept being judged if you dont know me. I am an American with a Import..that does not make a ricer...for wanting brighter lights, right?!!! Sorry if I don't want to hit a deer...like in my 350 :(

Album created.....

Looks like on the smaller bulbs I'll just do the leg work and post some results. I'm pretty sure I can find matching sizes from PIAA/Sylvania or whatever, the trick will probably be getting a color match to the stock head light so it doesn't look lame. Sorry for the thread jack, I'll make my own if I run into problems with my other bulb project. |

changing your lights out to anything else will result in less light output. the only way to get more light output would be to add fog lights up front with 4100k-4300k HID bulbs in them.
Going to 5k or 6k will reduce the light output, but add color (you can see this in the garage example picture.) Also, I see you have the "landing strip" style LED bulbs on your headlights, are those outside of the headlight housing? |
haha..definitly not sensitive at all...... more on the defensive side. I did consider some of you guys input and I appreciate everything. Still unsure tho.....I don't want less visibility since I drive at night... are the Z lights atleast adjustable? I want to leave them stock but the view still doesn't seem quite right
|
Cjof2003..yes, my lights are on the outside. I didn't want to risk condensation in the head light housing. I opted the next best way..between the head light and the hood.
|
i replaced all my lights to LEDs from VLEDS.com ... **cough**cough**"MyG37" is a discount code**cough**cough**
and i also bought 6K bulbs with a blue tint... works great and visibility is great too |

hahaha....but I dont think my lights are off. I just think maybe they can be aimed up just a tad and it'd be perfect. The view in my 350 in pitch black was horrible! Seemed like I could just see 3 feet in front of me! Never fixed that either tho
|
nogoodname..you got a g37? or Z?!! Either or.....has the lighting improved?
