Picture of my stock 370Z lights vs my 240Z's Alumina 6K Bi-Xenon H4 35W HID lights. The Alumina's are noticeably more "white" and slightly brighter - I like them better than the 370Z lights for driving at night - the 370Z is slightly yellow. I personally don't like the bluer lights. Blue give the apperance of brightness without the increased visibility.

I currently have Philips Ultinon 6500K. My next set will be in the 5500-5800K range. Something about 6500K makes it a tad awkward to see at night.

SophiaZ 12-17-2009 05:11 PM

Thanx FricFrac! Pictures help with the decision. And yes...I'm NEAR Salem...don't live there.

myG37 is just a discount code, but yeah nogoodname has a G37, which is the Infiniti version of the 370z for the most part.
also, the 12,000 Kelvin rated lights, although they don't look like it on camera, have a super purple look, as in, REALLY purple. I put them on my wife's car cause she saw them on another car and had to have them lol.

SophiaZ 12-17-2009 06:48 PM

Don't know if I'd like the purple lights. I'm looking for the bright white.

how is 6k not just for looks as well?
All bulbs are just 4k bulbs with coloring on them to make them appear to be other color ranges, and adding a colored housing reduces light output. 4K is for optimal lighting, anything higher is just for looks. I'd say 5000-6000 is a good balance of looks and function however, as you are barely giving up any light output for a much nicer look and to most people it will "appear" brighter without being any brighter.

That said, no matter what bulbs you change, you are not going to see deer any better, or anything else. You will need to modify the housings, aim them up so you blind people, or add more lights to see more.

Foglights are the best option for better visibility as most (oem at least) cast a good amount of light out to the sides, and down low out front.

However, if Sophia is just after nicer looking lights, 6k bulbs would be perfect for her most likely.

Snakes709 12-18-2009 01:46 AM

cant wait for my 8000k bulbs to come in...lol. Orderd the same temp for my ZX6R also.

vipor 12-18-2009 08:43 AM
