Yeah i put painters tape around the area before test fitting.
The doors have 3 screws to take out one if which is by the opening handle thebother 2 are behind a rectangle panel in the cubby area near the bottom.

Super easy to do.

I just ordered a pair of the F type from rhdjapan. I'm so sick of trying to see around the stock mirrors. :icon14:

CJBinder 07-24-2017 06:15 AM

I sent an email to Japanparts site and there is a way to add the extra options like R type add on and 500s mirror type. Just FYI

What is the 500s mirror type?

CJBinder 07-24-2017 05:07 PM

Check the link I posted. It is supposed to make things more visible.

Interesting. I notice rhdjapan doesn't offer any of those options on their site. I just emailed them to see if they offer the the r type option.

CJBinder 07-24-2017 07:05 PM

Japan parts will allow both. They mentioned to include you want the extra options and they will request the extra cost thru PayPal. Once I buy I will verify the process.

I did notice that on japan parts website. I've already placed an order with rhdjapan. I wouldn't mind getting the r type option though if available.

I am glad you all are moving forward with the mirrors.

Sounds like you're really happy with yours. I swear if I don't, one of these days I'm going to accidently run over someone in a crosswalk.

Beyond happy with them. The car looks much more raw now and less dumbo ear like haha.
All blind spots are eliminated now and the car looks a lot better so cant beat that.

I was shocked when i ordered from rhdjapan for 500ish shipped and they were on my door exactly 4 weeks later!!!

It's funny. When I got my car back in May, one of the first things I noticed when I got inside were the big mirrors and the blind spots. Yeah, I could live with them but if I could find something better, I'm certainly going to give them a try. Hell, I'm modding everything else, why not these. It's only $500.00. My SPL fuca's cost more than the mirrors and they're only a small part of the suspension work I'm doing. :rofl2:

redondoaveb 07-31-2017 12:51 PM

I was able to add the r type option from rhdjapan, it was an $80.00 extra cost. They have been great to deal with, they respond right away to emails (barring the time difference).

OptionZero 07-31-2017 02:23 PM

Wait, why do people want the Type-R option? isn't that the cap that makes the mirror immovable?

Seems like you'd want adjustment at some point . . . am i missing something?

Now you've me wondering. I was under the impression that it just locked it into place once adjusted as to not vibrate loose under hard driving. How does it make it immovable? I definitely don't want it permanently locked in place.

OptionZero 07-31-2017 04:50 PM

Maybe i misinterpreted it that then.

If its "locked" as to keep it stable and can be unlocked with whatever screw, then yeah . . great

if its "locked" like permanently? i could see a race car doing that but i dunno why a street car ever would

I was just going by what a previous poster found on the Craftsquare website. "R-Type- This indicates a racing model option. This option includes a specific black base and a lockable cap applied to the standard F and N1 mirror to secure the mirrors under intense vibration".
I took that as it is can be unlocked too. I would assume it's probably some kind of set screw that locks them in place.

Updated pic. The rims compliment the red pinstripe on the craftsquare mirrors

SOUTHZZ 08-17-2017 06:54 PM

I'll probably be in the minority with my opinion, but F1 mirrors in general are a "look at me" type of mod.
Design or function wise they do little.

It is just to possess a JDM piece(I'd not do a replica)that makes it all worthwhile.

Did the same on front JDM canards on my Z33.

A rite of passage and dollars.

Yes,for us car guys--well worth it.

I think you will be in the minority too because they are very functional and not just a look at me mod. I love having greatly increased visibility not only to the sides of the car but the forward visibility of losing the gigantic oem mirror.

:iagree:

I track my car and these type mirrors are way better than oem. There is a reason these type of mirrors are on real race cars. Also if you own a Z, you are already in the look at me club.:tiphat:

JARblue 08-18-2017 02:11 AM

:iagree: Madwi and Hotrodz both make excellent points.

JDM is definitely not a priority for me. But better visibility both forward and rearward is a huge benefit for functionality as well as safety. Not to mention the OEM mirrors are just fugly.

Volk Z 08-19-2017 11:11 AM

An fyi too is the replica evo r that have some fitment issues cost almost 400 shipped and I got mine for 500 or so shipped from Japan and fitment is perfect....

TreeSemdyZee 08-19-2017 11:18 AM

...and his old Nismo mirrors fit perfectly on my car!

I ordered mine from RHD Japan on August 10th and they are due to ship on October 6th. Not too bad.

Yep, it could take another month. You would think someplace like The Z Store would stock a few pair.

Volk Z 09-15-2017 04:03 PM

It took 4 weeks for me... It doesn't take 90 days from rhdjapan.

Volk Z 09-15-2017 04:04 PM

4 weeks from the day I ordered to receiving at my door! Literally to the day 4 weeks!
that's rhdjapan... Others may take much longer.

Yep. Mine were scheduled to be shipped on Oct.6th. They actually shipped yesterday via Fed Ex and I have a delivery date of next Wednesday. Rhdjapan has been great to work with.

Mike_O_Nite 09-15-2017 10:26 PM

Just curious, those of you who ordered a pair of Craftsquare mirrors, which model did you go with and why?

Also, it's hard to tell, but is the "type R option" the mirrors with the button(keyhole?) on top? Is that what locks the mirror in place or am I way off?

I just got my 370Z and those blind spots are no joke (both the front and rear ones) and am trying to narrow down which set I'd like the best.

Thanks in advance guys!

Mike

I ordered the tca-f model. I like the shorter stem of the tca-f. The type r option isn't a mirror it's a small piece that attaches between the stem and base to lock the mirror in place.

Mike_O_Nite 09-15-2017 11:06 PM

I see, said the blind man...

Thanks for the clarification redondoaveb! Are there any pics out there for this type R option?

On rhdjapan's site, https://www.rhdjapan.com/craft-squar...tca-f-z34.html they have the tca-f in both short and long stems...how do you specify which version is which? And on this same pic, the long stem mirror (the mirror in the background) assembly has a thing on top of the cover...what is that?

The mirror with the long stem is the tca-n model. I believe the stem runs up through the mirror and is bolted at the top (I could be wrong as I've never seen the tca-n in person). I believe there are some older threads on here that show the r option.
