Didn't you have a great race track at one time and they shut it down?

I remember the IROC series being run there .... or is my memory jaded?

SOUTHZZ 07-01-2017 03:33 PM

Will it happen?

Point taken.
I thank you.

From a long time forum member with our Z back to the 240, I have noted
many evolutions.
First, could be that the current majority of Z34 members track their cars.

This is not the norm.

However,it would be great if we have a selective membership that does.
I applaud you.

My apologies as from my experience, most members are everyday guys that
drive their cars to&from work etc.

Focusing on the hood vent project to be specific, lets say-6 months from now,
are these vents being produced and bought by Z34 owners?

Report back to me.

All the best

Yup. Until the city more or less grew around it and squeaky wheels complained and complained about noise until eventually it was shut down.

Dude I really don't understand your point of view. I am not engaging this effort as something that is a must for all Z owners. It's a niche product. I don't see you criticizing any of the other cosmetic add ons like headlights, wraps, 20" wheels that weigh 30lbs or the dumb *** looking stance projects but you have the nerve to criticize a worthwhile project that by your own recognition people are interested. Hence the title of the thread, if you are not interested move along as there many threads to spend your time in. You don't have to bother yourself with over the top fanatics like us. If you don't understand what I'm talking about...read Jarblue's comments again!!! You should appreciate the fact that you haven't been flamed like many others who make no sense in their commentary.

Feel free to check in an see what happens unless you get banned for being stupid, just keep your dissenting comments to yourself.

Hey Bobster. Did some digging. In one post, he says he is 72 yrs old. He likes fake carbon fiber. Doesn't like any mods that will improve the Z. Says the aero only works above 90 mph. :icon14: I'm left speechless. :rofl2:

Hotrodz 07-01-2017 08:23 PM

Lol, obviously he is a lone wolf with no concept of why we do what we do. He doesn't know that most the time we are between 60 and 90 mph at the track! Oh well I will keep all my real cf aero that does not work under 90 mph!

While I don't track my car, (seems I have a healthy respect/fear of concrete :eekdance: ) I'd be interested in something like this for the heat dissipation. Midwest summers get a little dicey, and while I drive mine daily, that will not always be the case. I'm interested.

On a side note..... the iggy list grew by one. :happydance:

Hotrodz 07-03-2017 12:53 PM

I am always amazed at how hot the engine gets. I will lift the hood when I park her in the garage and then go inside for a bit and when I come back out it seems like temp in the garage has gone 20*! I think hood vents are useful mod regardless if track or are boosted. And I am with cooltoy, they look cool if they are done! :D

Dude ,I was around long before they coined the phrase troll.

As you have appointed yourself as the leader of the "top fanatics",be sure to post in detail the success of getting these hood vents actually produced by
a reputable company.

Hey,I can relate to your passion for getting a project with a PERSONAL interest done.

Have done this a few times myself:
Cannot get it made, found a way to do it myself.

Can be a costly option my friend when you cannot get at least the minimum
order needed.
Also, think about the company making the pieces will be around long enough
to guarantee the product.

Best of luck to you and all that will join in the effort.

I've been there,done that.
You learn from experience.

Its only money and a feature on the car that may not add value at a possible
resale.

Give this some thought.

madwi 07-03-2017 04:53 PM

Just stop, please. Go find someplace else to peddle your sagely advice. It is not wanted nor needed in this thread.

Dude- the guys that this product is intended for gave up the idea of resale value a long time ago. :rofl2:

cooltoy 07-03-2017 05:49 PM

Please stop, or mods will come in and clean this up. Post only if valuable input is provided, or at least something funny.

Imma let you finish but first you gotta stop typing words.
  1. John from Trackspec Motorsports visited my home
  2. He picked up my hood last week and made a mock up template of the vents already, which I am not able to share.
  3. He is going to engineer the design in CAD and will be 3D printing the molds over the next few weeks
  4. Once they are printed they will be test fitted
  5. In order to test fit, they will be cutting up my OEM hood (that means I am the guinea pig, you're welcome)
  6. Assuming all goes well, he will start mass producing them and put them up for sale.
  7. Why is he approaching us for this? Because he doesn't want to have to spend money on a hood to test fit these vents. I assure you there will be a product after all is said and done.
  8. Any questions?

:roflpuke2: Right? Track guys that care about resale value? That's probably the weirdest thing i've heard all day
