Glove box won't close!

My glove box isn't staying closed I think the latch just needs replaced but I have no idea how to do that. I called the Nissan stealership today and asked if I could get a glove box latch replaced and they said they don't have latches they only sold glove boxes but he told me it would cost $500 I told him that seems insane and I checked online and found a glove box for $50. Should I just go ahead and buy another glove box or is there a way to fix a broken latch or replace it
