I'm thinking I might wrap my new hood in CF. always wanted to give wrap a try and seems like good a place as any to cut my teeth. I found a pick of MB with CF hood and quite like it - which is somewhat atypical for me. I don't want to overdo it on cRbon fibre but it is growing on me.

Carbon Fiber Element said no. Not sure if they meant no - they don't make them, or - no they will not sell the one piece.

ChaseZ 03-11-2017 06:12 PM

I suppose it doesn't matter either way what the no means. It simply means they don't want our money that's all :p

cooltoy 03-11-2017 06:19 PM

That's what I figured as well.

Are you talking about wrapping in actual CF or one of the vinyl lookalikes?
The reason that I ask is that a real CF wrap would weigh a crap load. Not to mention being expensive.

No just the 3M stuff.

Just some input from a guy that has done a bunch of carbon fiber.
Got to be careful when adding carbon. You can start by doing "trim/accent" pieces.
You do too much then the car(especially the interior)looks not done unless you finish the project. I max'd out with carbon on the z33.The interior is a combo of molded pieces,
a CF dash kit and custom CF. The exterior full bore with front lip, side skirts, rear diffuser
and and bunch of other stuff.
It looks design balanced. Almost like it came that way from the factory.
Many ask if my z33 is the NEW z...

Super cost though.
Went with accents on my z34.

I like how both cars came out.
That's what counts

That is VERY good advice, and e ermine should heed it

The tach cover is the only interior piece I was considering, especially if I wrap my hood. If I don't do the latter I may consider the door handle indent pieces in CF as well then.

Looking st the car again today the satin black hood is rather growing in me so not sure which way I'll end up going. Once the car is out in the street and can appreciate it from a better perspective I'll start deciding some of those things.

I have the door handle indent pieces and considering the tach cover. Those will be the only CF pieces inside.

I'm not a fan of any faux carbon fiber(wrap). It is cost effective for the
look though.
Following up on my previous post,to be sure, care must be taken if you want
accents or a total carbon look.
With any design project(it's what I do),get a total plan in mind on how you
want your car to end up looking like.
With my z33,I envisioned a Euro-supercar look.Took influence from
McClaren,Paganni etc.
Careful use of carbon(best quality) can upgrade the looks of a used Z or,
make a newer Z look far more expensive.

EVOR does not make it anymore. Carbon Signal does sell it separately. Waiting on price.

I would say RHD Japan is our best choice.

cooltoy 03-14-2017 11:22 PM

This is what CS one looks like from the top. Not sure if I am feeling the exposed parts.

I think this is the RHD.

Wow that is incredibly poor fit. I wouldn't want that either so CA is out regardless. I'll see about finding some images of the RHD one installed.

This is the description on their website. Like we talked about I'm not sure if that truly means this is a complete swap out for the PEM piece or not. Could be a language thing in translation.
