Ever thought of buying a car with the sports package, so you get the wheels, s-mode, big brake kit, and all the other goodies and then going to someone who has the same color but base model and just swapping hatches?

Incorrect, there are pictures of it in red now, I believe if you want the special color you have to buy the 40th anniversary edition.

The 40th anniversary will come in more than one color, so he probably will be able to trade rear hatches with someone if you buys a normal color, if buys the special 40th anniversary gray then he is SOL.

Here is red, now this is a RHD vehicle so the US may only get one color while Japan gets all colors.
