Fuel Gauge Issue

What a complete waste of time trying to get that "really important" first LED to light. Wow!

I thought when the problem was a warranty issue (their fault), they supplied the rental. At least, it worked that way when I had my Acura RSX.

Check your auto policy. Rental car coverage or temporary use vehicles are often covered under your standard auto policy at no charge. You shouldn't have to pay for their insurance.

Default Just let it be...

It basically looks like the fuel sensor does a bad job of "guestimating" how we drive. My last fuel L.E.D. dot (going from left to right) hasn't turned on for at least the last 6 months and then all of a sudden, it turns on tonight after refueling. I've got almost 30K on the odometer. Usually when I fill up, it says that I have about 385 miles of driving left, but for some reason when I filled up tonight, it told me that I have 426 miles left...probably because I haven't been racing anyone recently

so when I took it backsecond time to get it fix all led light came on so I left the dealship. I think it depends on the gas we use, are car is picky. Ive been using shell and the last led would come on but if I throw insomething different it gets all screwed up. Yea I dont trust the mileage reading anymore ive had mine say 4xx mileage left and I have had it say 300 on full tank. Do want to take it backin and get thesender change but my warranty I think is over. They need to put a recall on this so I can get it change for free

I think you guys need to understand that estimating how much gas is in the tank and calculating distance to empty is an inexact science. Deal with it.

With the amount of money we spent on our car brand new, it shouldnt come with problems. This lil stuff should of been fix before release the car. Fuel sender problems should not be an issue they been making cars for yrs they should have that atleast perfect.

The sender is reading fine. They didn't run out of gas, they had fuel starvation in a corner with 1/4 tank. Get the car back on level ground and it will start right back up. Whether or not the last LED on the right lights up isn't going to have any bearing on them running out of gas.

After the last track day my fuel gauge is stuck at 1/2 tank, I think I bent the float arm with high G's. Did that on my G35 a few years ago as well.

Ouch my expedition is like that its stuck at 1/4 when its full tank. Dont even wanna try and fix it since no warranty on it

Just got the z today. At first they said next week thursday I was like wtf i drop the car monday but later in the afternoob got my car back. They said they replace the fuel sender both of them and the problem was the thing holding the fuel sender was long and it was getting stuck somewhere so they installed the new sender which is shorter. They said this is a known problem but not much ppl come in to get it fix so thats why there is no recall yet. But they said the recall should come in soon for the senders. Im just glad I got my car back before I leave for iraq. Didnt want to have my brother pick up my car at the dealer dont know where u would take it lol.

i suppose you can use the trip meter to keep an eye on how much fuel you've consumed..? i do this on my G since it has the filler problem where it cant physically fill up to full on these newer gas pump nozzles. seems like epa did something to pre-maturely shut-off the valve on their pumps when filling our G's.

wasn't an issue until about 7-8yrs ago.

Same issue just happened to me on the way home. Drove about 10 mins and noticed 2 dots on the fuel gauge with a range of about 70 miles. I thought no way as I had just filled up before the weekend. 15 miles down the road, all dots were gone and range was showing blank. Pulled in and got gas and pump stopped at 8 gallons. Tank is full and when I cranked her back up range is still blank and no dots on the fuel gauge. Service Engine Soon light is now on.

I just hit 30,500 miles and it looks like I'll be taking her in to the dealer in the morning.

Took her into the dealership on Tuesday and they diagnosed the problem to be the sending unit(s). Didn't have them in stock so I expected to have her back maybe Thursday or Friday.

Received a call Thursday that upon installing the new sending unit they noticed the baffle floating around in the gas tank. They ordered a new tank and said they'd have to remove the rear suspension, rear end, Ark Grip, and driveshaft just to drop the tank and replace it.

Expecting to be without her for another week.

On the bright side at least it is still under warranty.
