The top secret is my favorite by far. If only it didnt have the vents...

I like lips when they extend out a little bit...as that one does.

Osiris 10-26-2009 11:59 PM

I think you almost had the right combination, but not quite....personally i think it looks good when the red goes all the way to the bottom of lip on the two sides of the middle grill. For example, feast your eyes on my superior MS Paint skills:

But i think you get the idea...can someone redo this in photoshop?

NewlyIMPORTed 10-27-2009 12:01 AM

hahahahaha thats an awesome ms paint job but i totally agree that that is the best looking option i choose option OSIRIS

tkindred 10-27-2009 12:07 AM

RedZed34's, without vents, much much better.

This would be a poly-urethane part. We would not be making one out of carbon fiber.

It looks like we're on a good track here and I appreciate all of your input on this!

Thank you very much!

"poly-urethane" thank goodness. Finally!

Forrest 10-27-2009 04:12 AM

I think every one is right with the vents. There is alot going on with the front fascia, you have fangs, lip, grill and now a vent? it doesnt work.

Bster 10-27-2009 06:09 AM

Some clean, simple, functional would be good and flows fluidly with the canards that you guys were planning as well.

I think on the street they will be destroyed within weeks. At least that's what happened to me years ago with a lowered/modded Fiesta. These things belong on the track, imo.

They look really cool, Stillen! If the vents are functional, I say leave 'em in. Otherwise, Reds chop looked best.

This is the lip I would like to see made for the 370z. Although this looks just like a 350z nismo lip. Simple and not bulky.

Thanks!

Red you nailed it! What a perfect front lip exactly how its supposed to be, nice and clean follows the lines of the car and doesn't disturb the front end appearance just simply enhances it! Major KUDOS!

Josh, are you guys looking into any splitters or canards for the 370Z yet?

I know Mike uses his car ALOT for track use, this lip and a nice clean adjustable front splitter would be awesome!

Josh@STILLEN 10-27-2009 11:56 AM

With this type of design, there is a decent amount of extension at the front, which would in fact increase downforce as a splitter would.

Canards are also absolutely an option, as long as the interest is there. Similar urethane pieces we've done with the GT-R were very effective on our race car. And urethane is extremely durable, the original lip spoiler and canards we put on our GT-R survived the entire Targa Newfoundland Rally just fine, slamming all over the place. Fiberglass or carbon fiber would never have been close to lasting.

theDreamer 10-27-2009 12:26 PM

I like the GT-R, not sure it will carry over exactly that for the Z (GT-R is a bit more "boxy), but I like that design.

Snakebite202 10-27-2009 01:20 PM

I like how the indentions in the lip sets off the canards on the GT-R...nice.

JE001-MyZ 10-27-2009 05:15 PM

I like the option 3 the most...its pretty nice... HOT!!!....lol

DannyGT 10-27-2009 11:51 PM

OK OK Please dont flame, I did this in 5 minutes and I think its OK...

I took the Porsche front lip (GT3) since it had the indentation in the middle which I happen to think flows very well with the fangs. I left the vents only because its my take on vents (if there has to be any) and its easy to remove...

Enjoy...

RedZed34 10-28-2009 09:45 AM

^^ Not bad... I typically don't like vents in a lip, but that looks pretty good. ;)

dszombiex 10-28-2009 11:21 AM

I like those pieces from the GTR quite a bit.

I suppose I tend to favor a more aggressive design.

Its not even that its more aggressive, its simply a nicer piece than the proto for the Z. Even that lip molded to fit the Z would look great if they align that middle indent with the fangs. But I think its important to have the lip designed to flow along the frontal part of the bumper rather than underneath, or else it will be trashed extremely quick. The stock bumper is already low enough with a coilover system installed...Any lip that adds to the bottom of the car will be useless, unless your driving on the most perfect roads all day every day.

ssqpolo 10-28-2009 01:41 PM

i like danny's the best. simple, but has enough design to make it sexy. just send me a price

+1 My vote goes to this version. I really liked the Nismo front lip on my 350Z and this has the same clean finish look that I like.

LiquidZ 10-29-2009 08:06 PM

Stillen, is there any plans for a full body kit? I'm really interested in a new front bumper, especially with added vents for cooling.

JakeZ34 10-30-2009 12:36 AM

Oh man I like the idea of no vents. and yes CF too I would get it in a heartbeat since Stillen is pretty ECONOMY friendly and great products.

tkindred 11-02-2009 02:49 AM

Why do people like carbon fiber so much for the front lip? Doesn't seem practical. Polyurethane seems to be so much better for that application.

RCZ 11-02-2009 08:38 AM

Yeah I had a poly one on my STI. I think even something as simple as the one I had on that car would look great.

Click here if you want to see more angles

But then again, I love multi-level (where the center of the lip is about an inch higher than the corners) front lips and I love the more extended ones like these.

But who am I kidding, I can't use anything that extends down too far because I'll rip it into pieces..

RedZed34 11-03-2009 09:30 PM

Stillen,

So whats the status on this lip??

Since I drive a Nismo my opinion is kind of pointless, but I'll offer it anyway. I like Stillens original design. I do think there design will (probably) be more functional than most of the the chops. Any part I consider for my car gets evaluated on both form and function. I tend to only purchase parts where the form follows function perfectly. Sometimes with aero parts that means going with something more aggresive than I would opt for if only considering form. That being said, I am perfectly happy with the Nismo body and would never make it in my drive with anything more tacked on the bottom.

G Fo12ce 11-04-2009 11:38 AM

I don't like how the lip on the GTR goes up in the middle otherwise I like it. Even the small wings on the side are ok. Stillen needs to bury that "Super Touring" series look once and for all. I hated it all the way back to the 1st gen Altima front they made.

I always liked the simplicity and clean lines of the S2K spoiler. Something like that would look good and appeal to more people I think. My vote is no vents in the middle either.

Stillen, any decisions on a lip design yet?

m4a1mustang 12-02-2009 06:41 PM

Bump for updates.

Rickey89 12-02-2009 11:25 PM

make it look more aggressive, perhaps a bit more like the gtr...eh ?

and im in:stirthepot:

Josh@STILLEN 12-02-2009 11:51 PM

Should have some things for you quite shortly.. Thanks for the input, and hanging in there..

Urethane is a longer process to develop, but has so many more benefits than fiberglass..

:)

Yeah, urethane is great.

azn370z 01-25-2010 06:26 PM

Any updates on when this lip is going to be on sale? I'm itching to add a lip after my cbe comes in.

I like this one better.
I've been looking for the most simply good looking lip but everything seems to be over the top for my taste.

HAHA I just realized how old this thread is! :)

Josh@STILLEN 11-22-2010 09:10 PM

this lip would sell amazingly well if they made it like this... by far the cleanest design yet..

stillen MAKE IT HAPPEN !!!!

no offense but this is much cleaner than the lips on the side...

TypeOne 11-22-2010 10:02 PM

I like the actual version much better... not a big fan of the vents.

370zsport09 11-22-2010 10:05 PM

Can You Do A PhotoChop with Option 3 but keep the middle blackout and the ends color match??
